Drishyam 3’s Steady Box Office Run

Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 has been holding its own at the box office even after over two weeks in theatres. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the film hit screens on May 21 and has been raking in steady numbers. According to industry tracker Sacnilk.com, on day 19, the film earned Rs 49 lakh, a dip from its day 18 collection of Rs 1.68 crore. The total worldwide collection now stands at Rs 235.55 crore.

In India, the gross collection has reached Rs 124.05 crore, with net earnings at Rs 106.93 crore. Overseas, the film has brought in Rs 111.50 crore. The third weekend saw a 70% drop compared to the second weekend, but the film still managed to gross Rs 4.10 crore over the weekend, including Rs 1.80 crore on Sunday. At the Kerala box office alone, the film has collected Rs 85.95 crore gross in 18 days.

How Drishyam 3 Compares to Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra

Dulquer Salmaan’s production Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, directed by Dominic Arun, became the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time in September 2025, crossing the Rs 300 crore mark. The film, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen, earned Rs 303.86 crore worldwide (India gross: Rs 183.96 crore, overseas: Rs 119.90 crore) across 96,136 shows. To beat this record, Drishyam 3 needs to earn an additional Rs 68.31 crore.

Industry insiders suggest that while the film’s momentum has slowed, its strong overseas performance and loyal fanbase could give it a shot at the record. However, the 70% weekend drop indicates a challenging road ahead.

Jeethu Joseph on Drishyam 4 Possibilities

Amid the box office buzz, director Jeethu Joseph has addressed speculation about a fourth installment. In a chat with Reporter, he said, “There is a lot of talk about Drishyam 4. But I cannot give that guarantee at the moment because I haven’t come across an idea yet. That doesn’t mean I won’t try. If I get an extraordinary idea, I will attempt it; otherwise, I won’t.”

Fans have been flooding social media with theories about how the franchise could continue, but for now, Joseph is keeping his cards close to his chest. Whether Drishyam 3 will break the record remains to be seen, but the film is already a solid hit in its own right.
