Scooby-Doo Origins First Look Leaves Internet Divided

Netflix has finally unveiled the first look at its upcoming live-action series Scooby-Doo: Origins, and the internet is already buzzing – with opinions split down the middle. The streaming giant dropped a short teaser showing the first meeting between a young Shaggy and the iconic Great Dane, now played by a real puppy instead of CGI animation.

The clip, captioned ‘SCOOOOOBY DOOO. Scooby-Doo: Origins, coming to Netflix in 2027!’, gives us the pup’s point of view as he bonds with his future best friend. Filming is currently underway in Atlanta, and this marks the first time a real dog has been cast to portray Scooby-Doo in a live-action project.

The series introduces a fresh Mystery Inc. team: Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma, and McKenna Grace as Daphne. Paul Walter Hauser is also onboard in an undisclosed role.

Fans React to Real Dog Casting

Arre, fans are not holding back. Some are smitten by the chocolate Great Dane puppy, while others feel the magic of the original character is lost. One fan argued, ‘One of the best running gags in Scooby-Doo has always been Scooby disguising himself as a human… using a real dog robs the character of so much fun, whimsy, and camp.’

But defenders quickly pointed out this is a prequel – and Scooby is supposed to be a puppy. ‘This is what a chocolate Great Dane puppy looks like,’ shot back another user. Others shared nostalgia for the early 2000s live-action films, calling them irreplaceable.

According to the official logline, Scooby-Doo: Origins follows Shaggy and Daphne during their final summer at camp, where they get tangled in a mystery involving a lost Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a supernatural murder. The rag-tag team of teens sets out to solve the case and keep their secrets safe.

Jennifer Lopez Calls Brett Goldstein ‘Best Leading Man’

Over on the other side of Netflix, Jennifer Lopez is celebrating big time. Her romantic comedy Office Romance has zoomed to the No. 1 spot on the platform, and the singer-actor couldn’t be happier. She took to Instagram to shower praise on her co-star Brett Goldstein, calling him ‘the best leading man a girl could ever hope for.’

Lopez shared a string of photos with Goldstein and thanked him, along with writer Joe Kelly and director Ol Parker, for writing ‘this lovely and hilarious movie for me.’ The post quickly racked up likes from fans who are loving the unexpected pairing. Looks like JLo is on a roll – and Goldstein’s charm is winning hearts too.
