Suriya’s ‘Karuppu’ Crosses Rs 304 Crore Worldwide Ahead of OTT Release

Karuppu’s Box Office Journey So Far

Tamil superstar Suriya’s latest action fantasy ‘Karuppu’ is showing no signs of slowing down at the ticket windows. After hitting theatres on May 15, the film has now crossed the Rs 304.85 crore mark worldwide, with its India net collection standing at Rs 193.93 crore. Trade analyst Sacnilk reports that the film added Rs 10 lakh from international markets on Monday, pushing the overseas tally to Rs 80.70 crore.

Directed by RJ Balaki, ‘Karuppu’ features Tirsha Krishnan as the female lead and has been performing consistently well across all languages. In Telugu, the film is titled ‘Veerabhadrudu’ and has contributed Rs 5 lakh on Monday with 18% occupancy.

The Film’s Fourth Week Performance

According to Sacnilk’s data, ‘Karuppu’ raked in Rs 53 lakh on Monday, seeing an 18.8% drop from Sunday. The fourth week started strong with Rs 83 lakh on Friday, followed by Rs 1.47 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.75 crore on Sunday. The film’s overall occupancy on Monday stood at 19%, with the major chunk of Rs 48 lakh coming from the Hindi version.

Looking at the weekly breakdown, ‘Karuppu’ opened with a massive Rs 113.85 crore in its first week, then added Rs 54.30 crore in the second and Rs 21.20 crore in the third week. The film’s total India gross collections have now reached Rs 224.15 crore.

OTT Release and What’s Next

Industry sources reveal that the makers have officially announced ‘Karuppu’ will hit digital platforms on June 12 in multiple languages. This news has fans excited as the film continues its theatrical run. In addition to Suriya and Tirsha, the film also features Shivada, Indrans, Anagha Maya Ravi, and Swasika in key roles. Director RJ Balaki appears as the antagonist Advocate Baby Kannan, while Sai Abhyankkar has composed the music.

With the OTT release just weeks away, ‘Karuppu’ is expected to maintain its momentum until then. Trade analysts believe word-of-mouth and strong performances are driving audiences to theatres even on weekdays.
