Varun Dhawan recently got candid about his proposal to wife Natasha Dalal, and honestly? It wasn’t the filmy fairytale we all imagined. The actor spilled the beans during a fun appearance on comedian Tanmay Bhat’s YouTube channel, where he joined a panel of comedians to react to memes and chat about his life. And what came out was a hilarious yet heartwarming tale of a proposal that went wrong—multiple times.

The Pool Proposal That Flopped

Varun revealed that he had planned a romantic proposal in Alibaug, complete with a pool and a special song. “I had planned to propose to Natasha in Alibaug in a pool. I played Mark Anthony’s song ‘You Sang to Me.’ I had thought we would be swimming in the pool and I would come out with the ring; by the time I moved to get the ring, Natasha had already gone out of the pool,” the actor recalled. Talk about bad timing! He admitted that this wasn’t a one-time mistake—he messed up two to three times. “It’s not like how you see in films; there is no perfect proposal; every time the timing was off,” he said.

Friends To The Rescue? Not So Much

Determined to get it right, Varun enlisted his friends to help keep Natasha in one place so he could pop the question. But even that plan backfired. “Eventually, I told a couple of my friends to keep her in one place because she was walking around a lot. If she was at one place, I could go and propose; but she was either going to get a drink or have salad,” he laughed. To make matters worse, Natasha eventually figured out what was happening before Varun could even get down on one knee. “Eventually, she came to know that I was planning to propose, so it was a bad proposal. I played the song three times back to back,” he said, leaving everyone in splits.

Love That Stood The Test Of Time

Despite the chaotic proposal, Varun and Natasha’s love story is straight out of a movie—minus the perfect proposal scene. The couple, who were childhood friends before turning romantic, tied the knot in January 2021 in an intimate ceremony with close family and friends. On the work front, Varun is currently busy with his upcoming projects, and fans are eagerly waiting to see him back on the big screen. But for now, this proposal story is giving us major reality check vibes—love isn’t always picture-perfect, and that’s totally okay, yaar!
