Bollywood is about to witness a fiery face-off on July 3 as two female-led assassin films lock horns at the box office. Alia Bhatt’s Alpha and Huma Qureshi’s Baby Do Die Do are both releasing on the same day, and the desi girl power is real. While one comes from the massive YRF Spy Universe, the other is an indie production promising a raw, desi hitwoman story. Get ready for some serious badassery.

Alpha: A new shade in the YRF Spy Universe

Alia Bhatt’s Alpha, co-starring Sharvari, has been preponed to July 3. Industry insiders reveal that this film marks a major shift for the YRF Spy Universe. A senior trade source tells us that Alia’s character is not your typical spy. “Alpha presents a lead character who is an assassin, not a spy,” the source says. “For the first time, Aditya Chopra is giving us an origin story that introduces a character that is more grey, more of an anti-hero in tonality.”

Directed by Shiv Rawail, who helmed the acclaimed series The Railway Men, Alpha also features Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor in key roles. The film is expected to bring a fresh, edgy vibe to the spy universe, and fans are already buzzing about Alia’s transformation.

Baby Do Die Do: India’s first desi hitwoman

On the other side, Huma Qureshi’s Baby Do Die Do is making a bold claim: it’s about ‘India’s first desi hitwoman’. The teaser, which was attached with Rajkummar Rao’s Maalik, introduces Huma’s character as a no-nonsense female assassin. The one-minute teaser ends with the punchline: ‘Badi story, badi screen pe, coming soon, baby!’

Produced by Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem under the Saleem Siblings banner, and directed by Nachiket Samant, the film also stars Sikandar Kher. The tone is gritty, desi, and unapologetic—perfect for audiences craving something raw.

The big question: Which one will win the box office?

With both films centering on female assassins, the clash is bound to split audiences. Alpha has the backing of the YRF machine and a massive star cast, while Baby Do Die Do has the indie charm and Huma’s proven acting chops. Industry experts are already debating which film will emerge victorious. One thing is certain: July 3 is going to be a killer day at the movies, yaar. Let the box office battle begin!
