Blast Sees Massive Growth on Day 2
Looks like Arjun Sarja’s latest actioner ‘Blast’ is finding its rhythm at the ticket windows. After a decent opening, the film has exploded with a massive 56% jump on its second day. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the martial arts entertainer earned Rs 1.95 crore net in India on Day 2 from 1,889 shows. That’s a significant leap from the opening day’s Rs 1.25 crore.
With this strong performance, the film’s total India net collection has climbed to Rs 3.20 crore, while the India gross stands at Rs 3.67 crore. The number of shows also increased from 1,728 on Day 1 to 1,889 on Day 2, indicating growing demand from exhibitors.
Tamil Version Leads the Charge
The Tamil version of ‘Blast’ is clearly the star performer here. It collected Rs 1.60 crore net with an occupancy of 35% across 1,167 shows. The Telugu version added Rs 35 lakhs with an occupancy of 18% from 722 screenings. State-wise, Tamil Nadu leads with Rs 1.40 crore gross on Day 2, followed by Andhra Pradesh-Telangana at Rs 40 lakhs. Karnataka and Kerala contributed smaller amounts.
Directed by debut filmmaker Subash K. Raj, ‘Blast’ is a martial arts entertainer that hit screens on May 28. The film features Abhirami as Neelaveni, Preity Mukhundhan as Nila, and Arjun Chidambaram as Abraham, alongside Arjun Sarja playing Rajaraman.
Evening Shows Save the Day
Occupancy trends reveal an interesting pattern. The Tamil 2D version recorded an overall occupancy of 39.60% on Day 2. Morning shows started slow at just 15.69%, but audiences poured in as the day progressed. Afternoon occupancy stood at 36.08%, while evening and night shows reached 46.15% and 59.62% respectively. Clearly, the word-of-mouth is spreading, and evening shows are where the magic happens.
Industry insiders have praised the film’s action sequences, noting that the best action twist doesn’t come from Arjun but from the supporting cast. With action blocks every five to ten minutes, ‘Blast’ seems to be delivering exactly what action lovers want. If the trend continues, the film could see even bigger numbers over the weekend.
