FWICE Flags ‘Growing Pattern’ Of Actor Walkouts

Ye kya ho raha hai Bollywood mein? The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has had enough. After reports of Ranveer Singh pulling out of Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 3’ at the last minute, the federation has officially written to major producer bodies—including IMPPA and the Producers Guild of India—demanding collective action. In a letter signed by FWICE president BN Tiwari, the federation described the ‘Don 3’ situation as part of a growing industry pattern that’s causing serious financial damage.

The letter didn’t mince words, stating that senior actors backing out of committed projects without prior consultation is becoming a worrying trend. “Such exits at advanced stages of planning and pre-production not only hurt producers financially but also disrupt the broader production ecosystem, affecting the livelihood of artists, technicians, and workers associated with such projects,” the federation reportedly said.

Rs 45 Crore Loss And A Call For Accountability

Ab baat aati hai paise ki. FWICE has confirmed that claimed losses from the ‘Don 3’ dispute amount to nearly Rs 45 crore. Sources say Excel Entertainment has reportedly demanded that Ranveer Singh pay this amount as damages. Industry chatter suggests significant investments had already been made during the film’s pre-production phase before the alleged fallout. Yaar, that’s not chhota-mota change!

To prevent such financial nightmares in the future, FWICE is pushing for a formal Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Among the proposed measures: clear protocols for actor withdrawals after formal commitment, institutional dispute resolution mechanisms, safeguards against abrupt exits causing financial prejudice, and—most importantly—a binding industry-wide framework to ensure professional accountability. Basically, they want rules that everyone has to follow, no exceptions.

‘We Are One Family’ — FWICE Urges Collective Action

FWICE closed its letter on a surprisingly emotional note, reminding everyone that they’re all part of one big Bollywood family. “We, all stakeholders of the industry, are collectively part of one family and must come together to address such challenges which pose a threat to the future ecology and economy of the industry,” the federation said, expressing confidence that through dialogue and cooperation, a solution can be found.

The federation has called for a joint meeting with producer bodies to hammer out the details. Whether this will actually lead to a binding agreement or just remain a suggestion, only time will tell. But one thing is clear—after the ‘Don 3’ controversy, Bollywood’s trade bodies are not willing to let actors walk away scot-free. Chalo, dekhate hain kya hota hai!
