Janhvi Kapoor Opens Up About Her Multilingual Journey
Janhvi Kapoor has been on a roll lately, stepping out of her Bollywood comfort zone to explore regional cinema. After making a splash with her Telugu debut in Devara: Part 1 opposite Jr NTR in 2024, the actress tried her hand at Malayalam with the 2025 film Param Sundari. But now, just a month after that film’s release, she’s getting real about just how tough that experience was.
In a recent chat with IANS, Janhvi was asked about her multilingual skills and whether she plans to learn any other languages. Her response was candid: ‘All of it, really.’ But when pressed specifically about Malayalam, she confessed it was a whole different ball game. The actress admitted that the language proved to be incredibly challenging, and she’s not sure she wants to go through that again.
Why Malayalam Won’t Be in Her Future Plans
Janhvi didn’t hold back when explaining why she won’t be attempting another Malayalam-language role anytime soon. ‘Malayalam is difficult. I don’t think I should attempt it again,’ she said, according to sources close to the production. While she managed to deliver her lines in Param Sundari, the process clearly took a toll. The actress, who is known for her dedication, admitted that the linguistic hurdle was one she isn’t eager to jump over twice.
This honesty is refreshing, especially in an industry where actors often pretend everything is easy. Janhvi’s willingness to admit her limits shows she’s grounded. But fans shouldn’t worry—she’s not giving up on regional cinema entirely. She’s simply choosing her battles wisely.
Upcoming Projects and What’s Next for the Actress
While Malayalam may be off the table, Janhvi is far from slowing down. She’s currently gearing up for the release of her second Telugu film, Peddi, co-starring none other than Ram Charan. The project is highly anticipated, and Janhvi is excited to showcase her work in yet another language she’s more comfortable with. She’s also balancing Bollywood commitments, proving she’s truly a pan-India star in the making.
So while we might not see Janhvi speaking Malayalam again, we can expect plenty more from her in Hindi, Telugu, and who knows—maybe even Tamil or Kannada someday. After all, she said she wants to learn ‘all of it.’ Just maybe not all at once.
