Too Tough To Tackle

Janhvi Kapoor is currently riding high on the success of her Telugu outings, but don’t expect to see her in a Malayalam film any time soon. The actress recently opened up about why she is putting the language on the back burner, and her reasons are surprisingly honest.

In a candid chat, Janhvi admitted that while she absolutely adores the language, she finds it incredibly challenging to speak. ‘I don’t think I should attempt Malayalam again, because it’s too difficult,’ she confessed, adding that she has a lot of respect for the language. For someone who is already juggling Hindi, Telugu, and now Tamil, it seems Malayalam is a bridge too far for now.

A Sweet But Difficult Language

Janhvi didn’t just call it tough—she also had plenty of love for it. ‘For me it’s such a beautiful, sweet language,’ she said, making it clear that her decision isn’t about dislike but practicality. The actress already has a connection with Malayalam cinema through her 2022 film ‘Mili’, which was a Hindi remake of the Malayalam thriller ‘Helen’. More recently, her film ‘Param Sundari’ gave her the chance to play a character with strong Malayali roots, further deepening her bond with the culture.

So while she’s not stepping into a full-fledged Mollywood project, she’s not completely disconnected either. It’s more about knowing her strengths and sticking to what she’s phonetically familiar with—Telugu and Tamil.

Back To Her Comfort Zone With Peddi

Meanwhile, Janhvi is fully focused on her Telugu journey. ‘I am really enjoying working in Telugu films and I would love to explore Tamil films,’ she shared, hinting at more South Indian projects in the pipeline. Telugu audiences have given her a warm response, and she’s not taking that for granted.

Next up is ‘Peddi’, a sports action drama co-starring Ram Charan. Janhvi plays the female lead, Achiyamma, in this village-set story about a man who unites his community through sports. The film also stars Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, Ravi Kishan, and Boman Irani. Mark your calendars—’Peddi’ hits theatres on June 4. Will Janhvi’s honesty about language barriers win her more fans? We think so.
