That awkward shoulder moment that broke the internet
Fans of Cocktail 2 couldn’t stop talking about a brief moment at the film’s music launch in Mumbai. During a paparazzi pose, Shahid Kapoor placed his hand on Rashmika Mandanna’s shoulder, and she quickly stepped back. The clip spread like wildfire on social media, with many debating if the actress looked uncomfortable. Neither addressed it publicly at the time, but the gossip mill was running overtime.
The internet loves a good drama, and this one had all the ingredients — two superstars, a sequel to a cult classic, and a blink-and-miss gesture that got blown out of proportion. But as it turns out, there was no tension at all.
Shahid’s playful response sets the record straight
On Friday, May 29, the Cocktail 2 trio — Shahid, Rashmika, and Kriti Sanon — got together for promotional duties. And Shahid decided to kill the rumour with humour. While posing for photos, he deliberately took a mock step back, mimicking what had been made of the original incident. Rashmika burst out laughing and could be heard saying she didn’t mean anything by it. The whole vibe was so chill that fans instantly fell in love with their easy chemistry.
Insiders reveal that the actors share a friendly bond on and off screen, and this light-hearted moment only proved that there’s no bad blood. The clip from their latest event has now become one of the most talked-about highlights of the promotional run. Clearly, the duo knows how to handle speculation with style.
Pritam hits back at ‘imaginary similarities’ on Mashooqa
Meanwhile, another controversy has been brewing around the film’s new track Mashooqa. Netizens alleged the melody sounded similar to a 1993 Italian song, Se So Arrubate A Nonna. Composer Pritam didn’t take the accusations lying down. He took to Instagram and called out the ‘self-appointed music detectives’ who create a new genre called ‘imaginary similarities’ every time he releases a song.
He wrote, ‘Every single one of my song releases comes with a set of self-appointed music detectives… I just want to say, guys, NOT NICE.’ The post has fans divided — some support Pritam’s frustration, while others feel the similarities are hard to ignore. One thing’s for sure: Cocktail 2 is making headlines even before its release.
Directed by Homi Adajania, the sequel to the beloved 2012 original features Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Kriti Sanon. It hits cinemas on June 19, 2026. With the trailer already creating buzz and the music making waves, this one’s going to be a mad ride.
