The drama around Ranveer Singh’s reported exit from Don 3 refuses to die down, and now veteran columnist Shobhaa De has jumped into the ring—not to throw punches, but to applaud the actor’s calm. While Ranveer has chosen to stay quiet, Shobhaa says that’s exactly the smartest move he could make.
Shobhaa De’s take on Ranveer’s silence
Shobhaa De took to Instagram on Wednesday with a video where she called Ranveer Singh “sensible, clever, well-advised” for not engaging in public mudslinging. “He’s holding his silence. He’s keeping quiet, letting his fans and followers fight his battles for him,” she said in the clip. The author argued that Ranveer has actually enhanced his brand appeal by staying above the noise.
The caption of her post was equally sharp: “Ranveer Singh is the Delhi Gymkhana of Bollywood…..same same but different… Exclusivity instead of inclusivity? Stop behaving like Trump!!! Threats and intimidation???? Won’t work. Never have. Regardless who the players are…” Shobhaa’s words have been widely shared, with many agreeing that Ranveer’s dignified silence is a power move.
Fans cry conspiracy, support pours in
Social media is buzzing with theories that the backlash against Ranveer is part of a larger conspiracy targeting not just him but also filmmaker Aditya Dhar and his blockbuster Dhurandhar. One fan commented on Shobhaa’s post, “Actually all are very jealous of Ranveer Singh,, he’s so hot hes so sexy , he has an amazing physic and a fantastic actor.. I saw Dhurandar 1 & 2 it was superb Hit movie.” Another wrote, “Shobhaa, your analysis is spot on. I am just surprised that an intelligent director like Farhan (though mediocre as both actor and director – giving a hint of sour grapes) cannot see the repercussions of his actions. Ranveer is much loved by the public and they are the ones who will decide the fate of his future projects.” A third fan declared, “Ranveer Singh will definitely and deserves to win this round and NOT Farhan Akhtar or any other Khan for that matter. Period.”
The hashtag #WeStandWithRanveer has been trending, with supporters insisting the actor is being unfairly targeted. Meanwhile, Ranveer’s team had earlier stated that he would maintain a dignified silence—a move that Shobhaa De clearly endorses.
FWICE chief spills the beans on what really happened
While fans are backing Ranveer, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has presented a different perspective. On Monday, chief advisor Ashoke Pandit told the press that Farhan Akhtar filed a complaint on April 11 after Ranveer walked out of Don 3 just three weeks before the unit was to leave for shoot. “After we invited Farhan and his producing partner Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment to tell their side of the story, Ritesh appeared personally at the FWICE office while Farhan attended the meeting remotely on Zoom since he was in London. They narrated the full incident for two hours. They also presented all the expenses incurred on pre-production, which are accounted for and audited. These include hotel bookings, location bookings, and overseas travel bookings for over 200 workers. Everything is on paper. Nothing is hearsay,” Pandit revealed.
The FWICE has not yet announced any official action, but the industry body’s involvement signals that the matter is being taken seriously. As the war of words—and silence—continues, one thing is clear: Ranveer Singh has his army of fans, and Shobhaa De is leading the cheer squad.
