Day 3 delivers a massive jump for Blast

Arjun Sarja’s martial arts action entertainer Blast is setting the box office on fire with an impressive opening weekend. The film, directed by debutant Subash K. Raj, saw an explosive 81.4 percent growth on its third day, according to industry tracking site Sacnilk. Day 3 collections hit Rs 3.90 crore, a significant leap from the Rs 2.15 crore earned on day 2.

Starring Arjun Sarja, Abhirami, and Preity Mukhundhan in key roles, the film has already amassed a total India net collection of Rs 7.30 crore. The India gross stands at Rs 8.42 crore so far. The Tamil version remains the stronger performer, contributing Rs 3.25 crore on day 3 with a 49 percent occupancy across 1,523 shows. The Telugu version added Rs 65 lakhs with 21 percent occupancy across 771 shows.

Worldwide total crosses Rs 12 crore

International markets have also contributed significantly to Blast‘s success. The film collected Rs 2 crore overseas on day 3, pushing total overseas gross collections to Rs 4.05 crore. Combined with domestic earnings, the worldwide gross collection has now reached Rs 12.47 crore.

Tamil Nadu emerged as the biggest contributor among domestic territories, collecting Rs 2.50 crore in gross on day 3. Kerala followed with Rs 72 lakhs, while Andhra Pradesh and Telangana contributed Rs 67 lakhs. Karnataka added Rs 60 lakhs, and the Rest of India market contributed Rs 3 lakhs. Occupancy trends showed stronger evening and night numbers, with Tamil occupancy at 56.46 percent overall and night shows touching 68.23 percent, indicating stronger audience turnout later in the day.

ETimes review praises detailing in action drama

Blast features several mass elements throughout the narrative, including multiple introduction sequences, frequent action scenes, three main villains, and a family of karate fighters played by Arjun, Abhirami, and Preity Mukhundhan. The film has earned a 4-star rating from ETimes, which praised its attention to detail.

According to the review, the film’s detailing extends beyond action choreography to production design and character staging. Almost every character’s introduction starts at their home with food being made and served. The main family’s intro begins with an egg dosa and a petty fight over who gets the first bite, with a kitchen neatly aligned. Another man is shown when he gets into a fight with his wife over less salt in the food, where the kitchen is quite small and untidy. One of the villains is depicted cooking pasta for himself in a large kitchen that has almost nothing except the stove. In a later sequence, you learn how the villain has been alone for years and always loves doing things just by himself. Such distinctions make the characters feel lived-in, even amidst the mass-ness of the Tamil actioner.
