Box office jump on second Saturday

Ananya Panday and Lakshya’s ‘Chand Mera Dil’ is holding steady at the box office despite a lukewarm start. The Karan Johar-backed romantic drama has crossed the Rs 30 crore mark globally on its ninth day of release, showing a healthy growth of 34.6% compared to its previous day’s collection.

According to the latest report, the film earned Rs 1.75 crore net in India on Day 9 across 2,704 shows. This brings the total India net collection to Rs 22.50 crore, while the India gross stands at Rs 26.60 crore. Overseas, the film added Rs 0.25 crore, taking its overseas gross to Rs 3.50 crore. The worldwide gross now stands at Rs 30.10 crore.

The film’s occupancy on its second Saturday was 21.22%, indicating decent footfalls in theatres even as it faces competition from new releases.

Day-wise performance and audience reaction

‘Chand Mera Dil’ opened to mixed reactions from audiences. While many appreciated the film’s departure from toxic romance tropes—a refreshing change in current Bollywood trends—the overall performances didn’t quite win everyone over.

The day-wise India net collection shows a steady but modest run: Day 1: Rs 3 crore, Day 2: Rs 3.65 crore, Day 3: Rs 4.25 crore, Day 4: Rs 2.25 crore, Day 5: Rs 2.10 crore, Day 6: Rs 1.90 crore, Day 7: Rs 2.20 crore, Day 8: Rs 1.30 crore, and Day 9: Rs 1.75 crore.

Industry insiders note that despite low pre-release buzz, the film has managed to sustain itself through word-of-mouth, especially among young audiences who connected with the non-toxic love story.
