Weekday blues hit hard
Ananya Panday and Lakshya’s romantic drama Chand Mera Dil took a major hit at the box office on its eleventh day. The film, which had shown some momentum over the weekend, saw a sharp decline of 50 percent on Day 11, earning just Rs 90 lakhs India net, according to industry estimates.
This is a significant drop from the Rs 1.80 crore collected on Day 10. The film’s total India net collection now stands at Rs 25.20 crore, while India gross has reached Rs 29.79 crore. The Day 11 business came from 2,707 shows across theatres, with overall occupancy dropping to 11 percent from 15 percent on Day 10.
Night shows saw the strongest response at 17.38 percent occupancy, while morning shows remained sluggish at 5.77 percent. Afternoon and evening shows recorded 12.31 percent and 10.92 percent occupancy, respectively.
Overseas and worldwide numbers
On the international front, Chand Mera Dil collected Rs 10 lakhs on Day 11, taking its total overseas gross to Rs 3.85 crore. Combined with domestic earnings, the film’s worldwide gross has now touched Rs 33.64 crore.
While the film had a decent opening, the weekday trend suggests that sustaining momentum might be a challenge. However, with a relatively modest budget and positive word-of-mouth, the film could still find its audience over the coming weeks.
Story and performances
The film stars Ananya Panday as Chandni and Lakshya as Aarav, two college sweethearts who navigate the complexities of adult life after starting a relationship at a young age. The supporting cast includes Aastha Singh, Paresh Pahuja, Manish Chaudhari, and Iravati Harshe Mayadev.
Insiders say that Lakshya’s performance as Aarav has been particularly praised, with one source close to the production revealing that he delivers the character’s confusion and redemption powerfully. Ananya Panday too has been lauded for her growth as a performer, handling emotionally demanding scenes with restraint. The duo’s on-screen chemistry has also been highlighted as a strong point.
