The Statue That Sparked Confusion
Ram Charan’s fans couldn’t contain their excitement for his upcoming film Peddi. A group of die-hard supporters from Kukatpally decided to go all out — they installed a life-size statue inspired by the actor’s look in the movie at Arjun Theatre. The unveiling was meant to be a grand gesture of love, but what followed was anything but flattering.
As soon as pictures and videos hit social media, fans and netizens alike did a double take. The statue, which was supposed to be a replica of Ram Charan, seemed to have missed the mark — big time. Within hours, people began pointing out that the statue bore little resemblance to the star. Some said it looked more like Malayalam actor Joju George, others swore it was Telugu actor Naveen Chandra, and a few even claimed it resembled Ram Charan’s own team member, Pasupulati Siva (popularly known as Siva Cherry). Oops.
Internet Reacts With Memes and Jokes
The comments section turned into a comedy club. One user sarcastically asked whose statue it actually was, while others started comparing the sculpture to random personalities and characters. The trolling tsunami was unstoppable — memes flooded timelines, and the controversy overshadowed the excitement around Peddi‘s release.
Despite the roasting, Siva Cherry came out in support of the fans behind the project. He said the statue was made out of pure love and respect for Ram Charan. According to him, people should appreciate the effort rather than nitpick the final product. As President of RC Yuvashakthi, he attended the event to encourage and back the passion shown by the actor’s admirers. His message was clear: It’s easy to troll from a distance, but every fan initiative comes from the heart.
Fans Apologize, Team Defends Effort
The fan group also issued a public apology, admitting that the statue didn’t turn out as planned. In their statement, they said their only intention was to honour Ram Charan in a unique way. They apologised to anyone who felt hurt or offended and clarified they never meant to disrespect any beliefs or sentiments. ‘Our intention was to express our love, admiration, and devotion. Unfortunately, the execution did not meet expectations and turned out to be a misfire,’ they wrote.
Meanwhile, the hype for Peddi remains sky-high. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film stars Ram Charan alongside Shiva Rajkumar, Janhvi Kapoor, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu and Boman Irani. With special shows and ticket price hikes already approved in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the film is set for a massive release. But for now, it’s the statue that’s got everyone talking — yaar, kya hi bolu, at least the intentions were pure!
