Day 21 earnings see a sharp drop
Suriya and Trisha Krishnan’s action thriller ‘Karuppu’ has entered its fourth week in theatres, and while the excitement hasn’t died down, the numbers are naturally cooling off. According to Sacnilk data, the film collected approximately Rs 90 lakhs on Day 21 across 1,860 shows. That’s a hefty 41.9% dip from the previous day’s Rs 1.55 crore, but hey – weekdays are weekdays, yaar. With this addition, the total India gross collection now stands at Rs 218.89 crore, while the net collection in India has reached Rs 189.35 crore.
The Tamil version remains the backbone of the film’s earnings. On Day 21, it contributed Rs 85 lakhs from 1,665 shows, with an overall occupancy of 16%. The Telugu dubbed version added Rs 5 lakhs from 195 shows at 19% occupancy. State-wise, Tamil Nadu unsurprisingly led the charge with Rs 80 lakhs, followed by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (Rs 10 lakhs), Karnataka (Rs 5 lakhs), Kerala (Rs 6 lakhs), and other regions (Rs 1 lakh). The film’s hold in the South is clearly rock solid.
Occupancy trends remain promising
Occupancy numbers tell a story of steady legs. The Tamil 2D version recorded an overall occupancy of 14.63% on Day 21. The day started slow at 9.38% in morning shows, but picked up to 14.31% in the afternoon, dipped slightly to 12.31% in the evening, and peaked at 17.31% for night shows – classic weekend spillover. The Telugu version averaged 10.20% occupancy, with morning at 6.60%, afternoon at 9.40%, evening at 9.20%, and night at 9.40%.
Despite the weekday slowdown, the film’s third-week collection has already touched Rs 21.20 crore. Industry insiders are calling this a dhamakedar run for a film that’s been in theatres for over three weeks. The word-of-mouth is clearly working in ‘Karuppu”s favour, especially for a genre that usually sees sharp drops after the first week.
Worldwide total inches closer to Rs 300 crore
On the overseas front, ‘Karuppu’ added Rs 25 lakhs on Day 21, taking its total overseas gross to Rs 79.50 crore. Combined with domestic earnings, the worldwide gross now stands at Rs 298.39 crore. That’s just Rs 1.61 crore shy of the coveted Rs 300 crore club – a milestone the film is expected to cross in the next day or two. Suriya’s fans are already celebrating on social media, and rightfully so.
Sources also reveal that ‘Karuppu’ is likely to make its digital streaming debut on Amazon Prime Video in mid-June 2026. For those who haven’t yet witnessed the magic on the big screen, the OTT release will be a treat. For now, the film is still running strong in select theatres, proving that good content and star power can keep the cash registers ringing even weeks after release.
