The OTT Release Date Is Here!
Malayalam cinema lovers, get ready for a dhamakedar entertainment dose! The action comedy Athiradi, starring Basil Joseph and Tovino Thomas, is all set to make its OTT debut. After a successful theatrical run that began on May 14, the film will start streaming on SonyLIV from June 19, 2026.
The streaming platform made the official announcement on social media, sharing a new poster with the caption: “The rivalry you didn’t know you needed! Biggest entertainment fest of the season.” Fans are already buzzing about catching this high-energy film from the comfort of their homes.
Plot: A College Fest Drama With a Twist
Athiradi revolves around Samkutty, a.k.a. Sam Boy, a lively civil engineering student who is head over heels for Swathy R. Krishna. His biggest dream is to bring back the college’s iconic fest, ‘Arohan’, which was banned after a tragic stampede years ago. Sam takes it upon himself to revive the event, but things get complicated when he crosses paths with Sreekuttan, a former goon turned musician who was responsible for the ban in the first place.
What follows is a clash of egos, some serious disagreements, and Sreekuttan reverting to his old ‘Thotta’ Kuttan persona to sabotage the fest. The rivalry between Sam and Sreekuttan becomes the heartbeat of the film, filled with unexpected twists and plenty of mass moments. Expect a full-on entertainment fest — as the makers promised!
Cast, Cameos, and Crew
Directed by debutant filmmaker, Athiradi boasts an impressive ensemble. Alongside Basil Joseph and Tovino Thomas, the film features Riya Shibu, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Zarin Shihab, Shaan Rahman, Vishnu Agasthya, P. Sukumar, Shelvin James, and Jeo Baby in key roles. Adding to the fun are cameo appearances by Hashir H., Darshana Rajendran, Devan, and others. Special mention goes to Tovino Thomas’s son Tahaan Tovino, who makes a delightful cameo appearance.
Music for the film has been composed by Vishnu Vijay, whose tracks are expected to add to the high-energy vibe. With a mix of comedy, action, and a nostalgic college backdrop, Athiradi promises to be a perfect weekend binge. Mark your calendars for June 19 — and get ready for some serious entertainment!
