Drishyam 3 Continues Strong Run at the Box Office
Mohanlal’s much-awaited thriller Drishyam 3 has completed 16 days in theatres and is showing no signs of slowing down. Despite a slight dip in collections, the film has managed to roar past the Rs 231 crore mark worldwide. According to industry estimates, the film earned Rs 80 lakhs net on its third Friday, a 14 per cent drop from the previous day’s Rs 93 lakhs. The film’s strong performance comes even as new releases like Ram Charan’s Peddi have entered the fray.
Industry sources reveal that the film’s overseas performance has been a key driver. During its second week, Drishyam 3 collected Rs 2.50 crore on Day 9, followed by Rs 2.75 crore on Day 10 and Rs 2.25 crore on Day 11. The weekdays saw a gradual decline, with collections of Rs 75 lakhs, Rs 60 lakhs, Rs 40 lakhs, and Rs 15 lakhs on subsequent days. The film’s total overseas gross now stands at Rs 111.25 crore, while its India net collection has reached Rs 103.43 crore.
Inching Closer to a Major Record
The film’s worldwide total of Rs 231.26 crore has put it in contention to break the record of Vaazha 2: Biopic of a Billion Bros, which earned Rs 235.26 crore globally. Drishyam 3 needs just about Rs 4 crore more to claim the fourth spot among the highest-grossing Malayalam films of all time. It has already surpassed the lifetime collections of Manjummel Boys (Rs 241.03 crore), L2: Empuraan (Rs 266.81 crore), and Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra (Rs 303 crore).
Insiders say that with no major competition in the coming weeks, the film could easily cross the Vaazha 2 milestone. The film’s strong word-of-mouth and Mohanlal’s star power are expected to keep the momentum going.
