Samantha spills the tea on casting

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is all set to bring the house down with her upcoming action comedy drama, Maa Inti Bangaaram. But here’s a fun fact that will leave you shook — the film wasn’t originally meant for her. During a candid Q&A session on Instagram, the Citadel: Honey Bunny star dropped a major bombshell: Sai Pallavi was the first choice for the lead role.

Revealing how the project came together, Samantha shared, “I didn’t choose this movie, but this movie chose me. The idea behind Tralala is to focus on female-led content, so the initial idea for this film was to pitch it to Sai Pallavi garu. I knew she was very busy and didn’t have the time. Then the makers tweaked the film for me, and hopefully Maa Inti Bangaaram works.” The actress also tagged Sai Pallavi in her post, expressing her desire to collaborate with her in the future through her production banner.

What’s the film all about?

Maa Inti Bangaaram marks the second collaboration between Samantha and director Nandini Reddy, following their hit film Oh! Baby. This time around, the duo is serving up a comedy action family drama that promises to be a total paisa vasool experience. Samantha will be seen playing a housewife who also doubles as a fierce fighter — think Mrs. Doubtfire meets Kill Bill, but desi style.

The initial teaser gives us a glimpse of her character’s dual nature: one moment she’s lovingly serving food to her family, the next she’s bashing goons outside her house. Talk about multitasking! The film features a strong and layered character, and Samantha has also co-produced it under her banner Tralala Moving Pictures, alongside Raj Nidimoru and Himank Reddy Duvvuru.

Cast and release date

The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Gulshan Devaiah, Diganth Manchale, Gautami Tadimalla, Sreemukhi, Manjusha, and Srinivas Gavireddy in pivotal roles. With such a talented lineup, expectations are sky-high. Maa Inti Bangaaram is slated to hit the big screens on June 19, 2026. Mark your calendars, folks — this one’s going to be a riot!
