For weeks, whispers around Bollywood claimed that Hrithik Roshan and Yash Raj Films were locking horns over the budget of Krrish 4. Some said Hrithik wanted a whopping Rs 500 crore for top-tier VFX and international action, while YRF wanted to keep it at a more ‘commercial’ Rs 350 crore. But now, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has stepped in to put all that gossip to rest — with a single word: ‘nonsense.’
The Budget Buzz That Wasn’t
Speaking to Mid-Day, Rakesh Roshan didn’t mince words when addressing the rumoured tussle. ‘It’s all nonsense that Hrithik has asked for a Rs 500 crore budget for top-tier VFX and world-class action for his directorial debut, while YRF wants to cap costs at Rs 350 crores,’ he told the publication. The veteran director-producer made it clear that making a big, audience-pleasing superhero film takes time — exactly the way he has approached every Krrish installment. ‘Making a good film catering to a [wide] audience takes time. Even I have taken time for each of my Krrish offerings,’ he added. So, sab theek hai, yaar — no budget war, no creative differences.
Scheduling, Not Money, Is the Real Holdup
If it’s not budget bickering, then why hasn’t Krrish 4 gone on floors yet? Rakesh revealed that the real reason is Hrithik’s jam-packed calendar. ‘Krrish is on another planet and we are all waiting for his dates,’ he joked, referring to Hrithik’s multiple commitments. The filmmaker stressed that there are zero issues between the stakeholders. ‘There are no issues; all is smooth. It’s teamwork between Adi, Hrithik, and me,’ he said, referring to Aditya Chopra of YRF. So, no tension, just scheduling jugad — which is pretty standard in Bollywood, na?
What’s Next for Krrish 4?
So what’s the current status? Rakesh revealed that the script is almost locked, and the team is hoping to start filming by the end of this year. ‘I will update you when everything is ready,’ he concluded. The project has seen several changes — earlier, Karan Malhotra and Siddharth Anand were reportedly attached, but now Hrithik himself will direct. The film is a co-production between Rakesh Roshan’s Filmkraft and Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films. While a release date hasn’t been announced, fans can breathe easy knowing that the Krrish universe is very much alive and kicking — just on Hrithik’s timetable. Ab bas, wait karo!
