Suhail Nayyar is all set to explore a new genre. The actor, known for his versatile roles in Saare Jahan Se Accha and Single Papa, has joined the cast of Vir Das’ upcoming found-footage psychological horror film Baara Number. The project, currently in production, also features Sheeba Chaddha, Atul Kulkarni, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Arunoday Singh, Ahsaas Channa, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Puja Sarup, and Naveen Kaushik.
For Suhail, this is a deliberate move into uncharted territory. He tells us, “What excited me about Baara Number was how unpredictable the world felt. Found-footage horror has this raw, unfiltered energy. You can’t hide behind polish, there’re no safety nets and as an actor that is both terrifying and exciting.”

The actor, who has previously impressed audiences with his dual role in Saare Jahan Se Accha and a pivotal part in Single Papa, is no stranger to pushing boundaries. But this film takes him into a darker, more unsettling space. He adds, “Vir has created a space that feels sharp, strange and alive, and being part of an ensemble like this pushed me into a zone I haven’t explored before. That’s the kind of discomfort I’m looking for at this stage, the good kind, haha.”
Suhail’s filmography includes titles like Udta Punjab, Hotel Mumbai, Sharmaji Namkeen, Jee Karda, and Murder Mubarak. With Baara Number, he continues his pattern of moving between mainstream, character-driven, ensemble, and international projects.
