Peddi Box Office Update: Day 8 Collections

Ram Charan’s much-anticipated sports action drama ‘Peddi’ is still rock solid at the ticket windows. Despite a slight dip on its eighth day in theatres, the film is on the verge of hitting the Rs 280 crore mark worldwide.

According to industry tracking reports, the film earned Rs 6.30 crore net in India on Day 8 — a 16.6 percent drop from the previous day’s Rs 7.55 crore. The India net total now stands at Rs 193.55 crore, while the gross collection in the country has reached Rs 229.95 crore. Not bad, right?

Overseas, ‘Peddi’ adds another Rs 60 lakhs, pushing the overseas gross to Rs 49.40 crore. This brings the worldwide tally to a whopping Rs 279.35 crore — just a whisker away from the big Rs 280 crore milestone. Looks like the film will cross that mark by Day 9 easily.

Occupancy in Telugu-speaking states remains decent, with the Telugu version recording 20.35 percent across over 7,400 shows. The Tamil version lagged behind at 11.14 percent. Unsurprisingly, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana contributed the lion’s share with Rs 5.30 crore gross on Day 8. Karnataka added Rs 55 lakhs, Tamil Nadu Rs 25 lakhs, Kerala Rs 2 lakhs, and the rest of India chipped in with Rs 1.30 crore. Total day gross: Rs 7.42 crore.

Controversy Over Janhvi Kapoor’s Role Addressed

But it’s not all smooth sailing for the film. A section of the audience has been calling out certain scenes featuring Janhvi Kapoor’s character, accusing the film of objectifying the female lead. The criticism went viral on social media, and soon enough, the makers had to respond.

Director Buchi Babu Sana addressed the controversy in an interview with a leading publication, saying, “In this process, a few shots turned misleading. We have taken corrective measures to remove them, and we have removed them.” The filmmaker confirmed that the objectionable scenes have been edited out following the backlash. No word yet if the revised version will hit theatres or streaming platforms first.

Fans of Janhvi have been divided — some appreciated the quick action, while others felt the controversy was blown out of proportion. Either way, the film’s box office seems largely unaffected by the chatter.

What’s Next for the Ram Charan Starrer?

With the worldwide gross already past Rs 279 crore, ‘Peddi’ is on track to become one of Ram Charan’s biggest hits. The film also stars Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, and Boman Irani in key roles, with a soundtrack by AR Rahman that has been climbing the charts.

Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, ‘Peddi’ is a sports action drama that has managed to hold its ground despite mixed reviews. The upcoming weekend will be crucial to see if the film can sustain the momentum or if the drop continues. For now, the team is celebrating the numbers, and the controversy seems like a minor speed bump.

On the promotional front, Ram Charan has been tight-lipped about future projects, but reports suggest he’s already lining up his next big venture. Keep it locked to Cinecrazy for all the latest on ‘Peddi’ and more Bollywood buzz!
