This week is a treat for OTT lovers, with a solid lineup of South Indian films dropping across platforms. From Suriya’s long-awaited fantasy comeback to a Yogi Babu comedy with a twist, there’s something for everyone. Let’s dive into what’s new and where to watch.

Suriya’s ‘Karuppu’ finally hits streaming

After a successful theatrical run, Suriya’s fantasy action drama ‘Karuppu’ has made its digital debut on Amazon Prime Video from June 12. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film also stars Trisha Krishnan, Shivada, Yogi Babu and Swasika in key roles. Blending fantasy with action and emotional storytelling, ‘Karuppu’ turned out to be Suriya’s biggest comeback after a few underwhelming films. The movie is available in Tamil and several dubbed versions — perfect for non-Tamil fans too.

Malayalam thrillers ‘Pongala’ and ‘Dridam’ join the lineup

Sreenath Bhasi’s action thriller ‘Pongala’ is also streaming on Amazon Prime Video from this week. The film, directed by AB Binil, is set in Kerala’s coastal belt and draws inspiration from real incidents in the Vypin-Munambam region from the early 2000s. The cast includes Baburaj, Sampath Ram and Kichu Tellus. Although ‘Pongala’ wasn’t a box office hit, industry insiders expect it to find a bigger audience on OTT.

Shane Nigam’s crime thriller ‘Dridam’ has landed on JioHotstar after its theatrical release earlier this year. Directed by Martin Joseph, the story follows a police officer whose routine posting takes a dark turn when a murder case lands on his desk. After human remains are discovered, he must solve the mystery within a limited time. The film also features Dinesh Prabhakar and Saniya Fathima in crucial roles.

Yogi Babu’s ‘Kenatha Kanom’ and Tovino’s ‘Athiradi’ round off the week

Yogi Babu’s Tamil comedy-drama ‘Kenatha Kanom’ begins streaming on JioHotstar from June 16. Set in a drought-hit village, the film blends humour, mystery and social commentary. Yogi Babu plays Manivasagam, a temple sculptor with a sharp tongue and a bigger heart, who gets caught in a village mystery about a water crisis. Expect laughs and a surprising twist.

On the SonyLIV front, Tovino Thomas and Basil Joseph’s action-comedy ‘Athiradi’ arrives on June 19. Directed by Arun Anirudhan, the film follows a spirited college student determined to revive a discontinued campus festival, sparking a rivalry with a former gangster. ‘Athiradi’ was a superhit in theatres and comes with a surprise cameo. Yaar, this is one week you don’t want to skip your OTT binge.
