Anjana Sukhani is all set to star in Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming film Main Vaapas Aaunga, and she couldn’t be more thrilled. The actress, who plays Meher, recently opened up about her experience working with the celebrated director and her co-stars.
When the offer came, Sukhani didn’t think twice. She revealed that she was first asked to send an introduction video before meeting Imtiaz in person. ‘When I met him at his office, I think he saw Meher in me,’ she shared. The role required her to play Naseeruddin Shah’s daughter-in-law and caretaker. For the actress, it was an easy yes—because who says no to Imtiaz Ali?
Meher And Geet Are Cut From The Same Cloth
During their discussions, Sukhani realized that Meher reminded her of the iconic Geet from Jab We Met. She pointed out that both characters have no filter and speak their mind innocently, often at the wrong time. ‘I feel all of Imtiaz’s women are mature but have a childish quality to them,’ she explained. It’s this endearing combination that makes Meher such a joy to play.

The film boasts a stellar cast including Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari Wagh. Sukhani was all praise for her co-stars, calling Naseeruddin Shah’s brilliance unmatched and Diljit Dosanjh’s sincerity a highlight on set.
