The Dinner Table Chaos: Who Orders, Who Helps?
Imagine a dinner table where Geet from Jab We Met, Jordan from Rockstar, Tara from Tamasha, and a dozen other beloved Imtiaz Ali characters are seated together. Chaos, right? The director himself spilled the beans on exactly how that night would unfold — and trust us, it’s pure filmy gold.
When asked who would order for the entire table without consulting anyone, Imtiaz Ali didn’t hesitate. “I think Geet will order,” he said. “And also, Tara will actually help her. Geet will make a bad order. Tara will help her sort it out and get everything for everybody.” But even then, the director added with a laugh, “There will be some people who will still be dissatisfied with the order.” Classic Geet energy — impulsive, loud, and slightly chaotic, but always saved by a level-headed friend.
Who Leaves Early and Who Feels Lonely?
Next up: which character would switch seats midway? “I think everyone can do that. Especially Geet, Jordan. I think very few people will be glued to their seat,” Imtiaz Ali revealed. But the real drama came when asked who would want to slip away after 20 minutes. The answer came in a jiffy: “Jordan.” And no, he wouldn’t make it a secret. “He would just leave,” the director said. Ranbir Kapoor’s brooding rockstar would walk out in plain sight, not bothering to explain.
As for feeling lonely in a crowd, that honour went to Veera from Highway — but only if she hadn’t gone through her abduction experience. “Well, if Veera has not had the experience of the abduction, then she would,” said Ali, nodding to Alia Bhatt’s transformative performance. It’s that quiet, introverted energy that makes Veera the one most likely to stare into space while everyone else is laughing.
Who Pays the Bill and Who’s on Dating Apps?
When it comes to picking up the tab, there was one unanimous answer: Aditya from Jab We Met. Why? “He’s the richest of all,” the director grinned. And of course, Jai from Love Aaj Kal (played by Saif Ali Khan) would conveniently forget his wallet. Some things never change, na?
On the dating app front, Imtiaz Ali had a blast. He thinks Jordan would be the most entertaining in public, creating drama and keeping things interesting. “Because there’s Tara, and there are other people who are much more congenial, but Jordan will be more entertaining in public.” But who would actually get the most matches? “All the girls,” he declared. “Tara will get a lot of matches and Heer will get a lot of matches.” And who would delete the app within two hours? Veera, of course. “She will say, ‘This is not making sense. I want some real experience.’” Sounds exactly like something she’d say, no?
