The Don 3 Fallout: Rs 45 Crore Loss Claim Sparks Controversy

The Don 3 drama just got messier. Reports suggest that Ranveer Singh walked away from the highly anticipated film, leaving producer Excel Entertainment in a lurch. The production house allegedly incurred losses of nearly Rs 45 crores – think pre-production, location scouting, and other development costs.

Enter the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). After sending notices to Ranveer asking him to explain his side, the federation dropped a bombshell: a non-cooperation directive against the actor. Ranveer’s legal team reportedly questioned FWICE’s jurisdiction over a private commercial agreement, but the federation wasn’t backing down.

RGV’s Fiery Take: ‘Massive PR Disaster’

Enter Ram Gopal Varma, never one to stay quiet. The maverick filmmaker took to X with a series of scathing posts, directly targeting FWICE. ‘BAN ‘FWICE’ and not @RanveerOfficial,’ he wrote, calling the entire episode a ‘massive PR Disaster’ for the federation.

Varma argued that this is fundamentally a private contractual dispute, not an industry-wide issue. ‘At the heart of this whole matter is a producer claiming massive pre-production losses, but that is just a private contractual dispute between two parties,’ he posted. He dismissed FWICE’s intervention as ‘a pure performative muscle flexing’ by a body that is ‘neither a court of legal justice nor a government authorised regulatory body.’

The director also highlighted Ranveer’s star power, stating, ‘If @RanveerOfficial simply nods a yes, there will be a one kilometre long queue of producers outside his house tomorrow morning with cheques ready.’ His final advice? ‘Let’s not poke our unwanted noses into a civil dispute between 2 parties.’

Industry Reactions And The Road Ahead

RGV isn’t the only one backing Ranveer. CINTAA Vice-President Padmini Kolhapure publicly voiced her support, while CINTAA president Poonam Dhillon suggested the matter could have been resolved privately had the association been approached earlier. Meanwhile, reports indicate that Salman Khan has been quietly mediating between Ranveer and the Excel Entertainment camp to find an amicable solution.

As for Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment, official silence continues. Neither party has commented on the future of Don 3. With RGV’s sharp words and the industry watching closely, this battle of contracts and egos is far from over.
