The Big Announcement
Diljit Dosanjh has done it again, yaar. The Punjabi powerhouse took the stage in Toronto over the weekend and dropped a bombshell that sent fans into a frenzy: he’s headlining London’s iconic Wembley Stadium on September 12, 2026. That’s right — the first South Asian artist, and definitely the first Punjabi, to ever command that legendary stage.
In a clip posted to his social media, Diljit can be seen breaking the news to the electrified crowd in Toronto. “We are doing Wembley Stadium London here. Michael Jackson performed there. Prince performed there. The Queen’s Band performs there. Wembley Stadium, for the first time in the history of South Asian artists, especially Punjabis, Wembley Stadium London,” he announced, his voice thick with emotion.
The milestone puts Diljit in the company of music royalty — Michael Jackson, who played seven back-to-back sold-out shows at Wembley in 1988 during his Bad World Tour, Prince, who lit up the stage in 1993, and Queen, who left their mark with multiple unforgettable performances.
A Mother’s Faith
But the announcement wasn’t just about the achievement — it was deeply personal. Diljit recalled his mother’s unwavering belief in him, even when she had no idea what Wembley Stadium even was. “My mother used to say at home. She used to say, whenever you have a problem, or something good happens, I used to think, my son is getting so much trouble, something good is going to happen,” he shared on stage.
“I used to say, yes mom, something good is going to happen. I used to say, mom, I am going to a big place. I am going to Wembley Stadium. She doesn’t know what Wembley Stadium is.” That raw, honest moment had fans everywhere reaching for tissues. Diljit’s caption on the video was simple but powerful: “THANK YOU SO MUCH TORONTO I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. BIG NEWS. WE ARE DOING WEMBLEY STADIUM LONDON. 12th September 2026.”
What’s Next for Diljit
Before he conquers Wembley, Diljit has another big ticket item coming up — his film Main Vaapas Aaunga, set to release in June. The movie boasts an impressive ensemble cast alongside him, including veteran actor Rajkummar Rao, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina. With a packed schedule and history in the making, Diljit is proving that the world is indeed his stage.
