Motherhood changed her perspective completely
Kiara Advani is getting real about the rollercoaster of becoming a mom. In a recent chat with Bombay Times, the actress opened up about how welcoming her first child—a daughter—with husband Sidharth Malhotra in July 2025 has transformed her life. And trust us, she’s not holding back.
“The experience is so enriching in every way,” Kiara shared. “I feel directors who will work with me now will get the best version of me. This journey has opened a new side to me, to my life and to my understanding of the world.”
The actress, who has a packed schedule ahead including the film Toxic, says motherhood has made her more grounded and focused. She believes the new chapter has unlocked a deeper emotional range that will reflect in her work. Ya, we’re already excited to see what she brings next.
The double standards after delivery are real
Kiara didn’t shy away from calling out the hypocrisy society throws at women post-pregnancy. She highlighted the stark shift in how people talk about a woman’s body before and after childbirth.
“When you’re pregnant, everyone goes like, ‘Oh my God, you’re glowing, this, that.’ And the minute you’ve had a baby, it changes to, ‘Abhi moti lag rahi hai, thodi yeh lag rahi hain, thodi woh lag rahi hain’ (she is looking fat, looking a bit like this and like that),” she revealed.
The actress stressed that the hardest part for a woman is actually after delivery, when the spotlight fades and expectations to “bounce back” kick in. “When you are pregnant, you are this devi and the minute you deliver the baby, they expect you to be back in shape and back on track. But the hardest part for the woman is after. That is the part where she needs support,” she added.
Kiara’s words hit home for many new moms who face constant scrutiny about their bodies while juggling sleepless nights and endless diaper changes. And honestly, it’s about time someone said it loud and clear.
It takes a village to raise a mother
Kiara also emphasized the importance of emotional support and community during the transition into motherhood. She dropped a gem of a line that’s already going viral: “They say it takes a village to raise a baby. It takes a village to raise a mother.”
“That is the time you need to nurture this woman who is now adapting to a whole new role in her life and figuring out how she’s going to balance her identity and play the role of a mother, daughter, wife,” she concluded.
Kiara and Sidharth’s love story has been one of Bollywood’s most cherished. The duo reportedly fell for each other on the sets of the 2021 war drama Shershaah, where their chemistry had fans swooning. After keeping things low-key, they tied the knot in a dreamy ceremony at Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer on February 7, 2023. In February 2025, they announced they were expecting, and their little one arrived on July 15, 2025.
On the work front, Kiara is balancing mom duties with an exciting slate of projects, including the highly anticipated Toxic. Her recent comments have sparked an important conversation around postpartum recovery, self-image, and the support new mothers truly need—and we’re here for it.
