Tusshar Kapoor, who recently marked 25 years in Bollywood, took a nostalgic trip down memory lane. In a recent interview, the actor opened up about working with Kareena Kapoor in his debut film Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai (2001), admitting he was completely in awe of her confidence from the very first day.

“Kareena’s confidence is something else. She’s one of the most entertaining people to work with, and she has absolutely no fear of anything. She’s like a hero,” Tusshar said, adding that her self-belief is something he has always looked up to. “There are no bad hair days for her.”

Kareena Carried Herself Like a Veteran From Day One

Tusshar recalled being stunned by Kareena’s maturity even when she was just one film old. “Maybe it comes from growing up watching her family, or maybe it’s just her nature, but she has always been a very confident person,” he said. He praised her screen presence and flair, calling her one of the actors he has watched and admired the most.

“She carries herself with a certain flair, no matter which film she’s in or what character she’s playing. There are people I’ve worked with whom I’ve really watched and admired a lot, and Kareena is definitely one of them.”

Different Personalities, Initial Drift

Despite knowing each other socially before Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai, Tusshar revealed that the two actually drifted apart during the initial days of shoot. “She’s an extrovert, and I’m an introvert. So we kind of drifted apart initially because I’m not very talkative, especially when I’m working, and that was my first film,” he shared.

He also noted how Kareena was already operating like a seasoned pro—she knew her lines immediately, was comfortable facing the camera, and had complete familiarity with everyone on set, from spot boys to crew members. “She knew exactly who was doing what,” he added.

Kareena’s Warmth Brought Them Together

Fortunately, the gap didn’t last long. Tusshar credited Kareena’s friendly and supportive nature for helping them bond on set. “She’s very warm, and that eventually helped us connect,” he said. The two went on to share screen space again in Jeena Sirf Merre Liye (2002).

Directed by Satish Kaushik and produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai was a remake of the 1998 Telugu hit Tholi Prema. Anu Malik’s soundtrack became the second-biggest selling album of the year, according to Box Office India. Tusshar’s journey from a shy newcomer to a 25-year veteran has come full circle—and he still remembers how Kareena’s sheer star power left him awestruck, yaar.
