Mirzapur’s beloved Munna Bhaiya is all set to make his Telugu cinema debut, and if the early buzz is anything to go by, Hyderabad is already head-over-heels in love with Divyenndu. The actor recently opened up about the overwhelming affection he received from fans while shooting for his upcoming film Peddi.

Ram Charan gave him the heads up

Divyenndu revealed that it was none other than Ram Charan who first told him just how huge his popularity is in Hyderabad. “I knew that Mirzapur had performed well in Telugu but it was Ram sir who first told me just how big the love was in Hyderabad,” the actor shared. Interestingly, this conversation happened even before Divyenndu set foot on the set of Peddi in the city. But he soon witnessed the love firsthand.

During a packed cricket sequence shoot for the film, the crowd’s reaction left him stunned. “I truly experienced it while shooting the film. There was a cricket sequence with a large crowd and the way people reacted when they saw me made me realise there was no exaggeration at all,” he said. The genuine affection from the audience touched him deeply. “They came up to me and said things like, ‘We have seen your work’ and ‘We really like you.’ That kind of genuine appreciation gives you a lot of confidence as an actor. Since this is my first Telugu film, receiving so much love and encouragement from the audience has been a tremendous boost.”

From Mirzapur to Peddi

Divyenndu, who shot to fame as Munna Bhaiya in the web series Mirzapur, is now stepping into the Telugu film industry with Peddi, where he plays a character named Ram Bujji. The film marks a new chapter in his already busy career. Recently he also appeared in the film Glory, and the current year is shaping up to be a major one for him — he’s also gearing up to reprise his iconic role in the upcoming Mirzapur: The Movie.

Fans of the web series have been eagerly waiting for the big-screen adaptation, and Divyenndu’s crossover into Telugu cinema only adds to the excitement. With his natural flair for comedy and intensity, the actor seems to have found a warm welcome in the South as well. Yaar, what a time to be a Divyenndu fan!

More than just a cameo

While some Hindi actors dip their toes into South Indian cinema with a cameo or a special appearance, Divyenndu’s role in Peddi is a full-fledged part of the narrative. The cricket sequence shoot, which first exposed him to the city’s love, was a major schedule for the film. The actor admitted that the experience gave him a massive confidence boost — especially since stepping into a new industry can be intimidating for any artist.

“I truly experienced it while shooting the film. There was a cricket sequence with a large crowd and the way people reacted when they saw me made me realise there was no exaggeration at all,” he reiterated. It’s clear that the connection with the audience is something Divyenndu treasures deeply. And with Mirzapur: The Movie on the horizon plus Peddi releasing soon, the actor is on a roll.
