Rhea Opens Up About Aryan Khan’s Arrest

Rhea Chakraborty has broken her silence on Aryan Khan’s 2021 drug case, admitting that watching the star kid face public scrutiny brought back traumatic memories from her own legal battle. In a recent interview with a leading publication, the actress revealed that she had reached out to Aryan during his controversy, and that the similarities between their cases were “spectacularly similar.”

“When I saw what Aryan was going through, it took me back because it was spectacularly similar,” Rhea said. She added that more than her own story, Aryan’s situation reminded her of what her brother Showik Chakraborty endured after their arrest in 2020. “It was very, very hard to watch,” she confessed.

Rhea and Showik were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in connection with the drugs probe that followed Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. She spent 27 days in jail before being granted bail by the Bombay High Court. Aryan, son of Shah Rukh Khan, was arrested in October 2021 after a raid on a cruise ship and spent 25 days in custody. Charges against him were dropped in May 2022.

The Pain of Losing Identity in Jail

Opening up about her time behind bars, Rhea shared that the hardest part was losing her sense of self. “Inside jail, a person feels reduced to a number,” she said. “You’re no longer part of society. That detachment from your own identity is incredibly difficult to deal with.”

The actress, who has largely stayed away from the limelight since her release, spoke candidly about the emotional toll the legal battle took on her. “When you’re stripped of everything — your name, your face, your freedom — you realise how fragile your sense of identity really is,” she added.

Friends Who Stood By Her & Comeback Plans

Rhea credited a handful of close friends for helping her stay afloat during the dark times. She named Shibani Dandekar, Anusha Dandekar, Nidhi, Anisha, Samisha, Saqib Saleem, and Huma Qureshi as the ones who stood by her unconditionally. “Having even one true friend is enough to get through anything,” Rhea said.

The actress is now looking ahead to a fresh start in her career. She is set to make her acting comeback with the upcoming project Family Business, which she describes as a new chapter. “I’m ready to work again and tell stories that matter,” she said. Fans are eagerly waiting to see Rhea back on screen after her long hiatus.
