Jackie’s Cryptic Tease

Bollywood’s beloved ‘Jaggu Dada’ is at it again—this time teasing fans with a major hint about the much-anticipated sequel to the 1993 cult classic Khal Nayak. In a candid chat, Jackie Shroff dropped enough hints to get the rumor mill churning, suggesting that a reunion with Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit might be on the cards.

When quizzed about his involvement in Khalnayak Returns, Shroff played it cool but gave a characteristically charming non-answer. “There’s no discussion yet. The story is yet to reach me. Sanju baba’s posters are already out as Khalnaayak. Bas police officer Ram Sinha aur unki dharampatni peechhe hain,” he said with a smile, making it clear he’s tracking the project closely and sees himself and Madhuri’s character as the moral counterweights to Sanjay’s returning villain.

Madhuri’s Stance and the Original Magic

However, Madhuri Dixit isn’t quite on the same page yet. The actress, who recently wrapped up the Netflix comedy Maa Behen, revealed separately that she hasn’t entered any formal discussions with the makers. “As of now,” she said, she hasn’t received an official offer. So fans hoping for the trio’s reunion will have to wait for the official word.

Reflecting on the original film, Jackie got nostalgic about how director Subhash Ghai took a massive gamble casting him—a raw model from a chawl—in such a high-stakes role. “Baap re! Kya tension liya. Panga liya na?” he exclaimed, thanking Ghai for treating his actors like his own kids. Ghai, after all, gave Jackie his Bollywood breakthrough in Hero (1983), making their creative bond one of Hindi cinema’s most enduring.

What’s Next for Jackie Shroff

On the work front, the veteran actor’s latest release is The Great Grand Superhero, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Manish Saini. Up next is Ahmed Khan’s adventure comedy Welcome to the Jungle, which hits cinemas on June 26, 2026. The film marks his reunion with Khan six years after Baaghi 3 (2020)—which, fun fact, starred his son Tiger Shroff.

But right now, all eyes are on whether Jackie will slip back into the khaki of police officer Ram Sinha. With Sanjay Dutt’s posters already out and Madhuri’s status still unclear, one thing’s for sure: the excitement for Khalnayak Returns is already peaking. Bas ab script ka wait hai!
