The Don 3 drama just got a new chapter. The Producers Guild of India has officially stepped into the controversy surrounding Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar’s much-anticipated film, issuing a strongly worded statement that calls out the growing trend of last-minute walkouts by talent and technicians.

In a statement shared on social media on Wednesday, the Guild—led by Shibasish Sarkar—made it clear that such instances have caused ‘significant reputational and financial damage’ to the industry. The body urged all concerned parties to resolve the matter amicably, without naming anyone directly.

Guild’s statement on reneging commitments

The Producers Guild of India wrote, ‘There have been growing instances of talent, directors, and technicians reneging on their commitments to producers, often at the eleventh hour. We have also received formal complaints from our members, Excel Entertainment Private Limited and Panorama Studios International Limited regarding these issues coming up just days before the commencement of principal photography.’

The statement further emphasised that such conduct ‘undermines the spirit of trust, professionalism, and mutual respect’ that the industry is built on. The Guild didn’t hold back, noting that these actions have far-reaching consequences for everyone involved in a production.

FWICE’s non-cooperative directive

This development comes just days after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperative directive against Ranveer Singh. The actor has been at the center of the Don 3 storm ever since reports surfaced about his sudden exit from the project, leaving the production team scrambling just before the shoot was set to begin.

Industry insiders suggest that the situation has escalated quickly, with multiple industry bodies now taking a stand. The FWICE directive essentially warned other producers against working with the actor until the matter is resolved, a move that sent shockwaves through Bollywood.

What happens next?

While neither Ranveer Singh nor Farhan Akhtar have publicly commented on the Guild’s statement, sources close to the production reveal that behind-the-scenes negotiations are underway. The Guild’s call for an amicable resolution suggests that there might still be room for a compromise before things go further south.

For now, the ball is in the court of the parties involved. The industry is watching closely, as the outcome of this dispute could set a precedent for how similar conflicts are handled in the future. One thing is clear—Don 3 is making headlines for reasons nobody expected.
