Tuesday Sees A Massive Spike

A Hollywood horror film that nobody saw coming is setting the Indian box office on fire. Industry tracking data reveals that ‘Obsession’ collected approximately Rs 3.35 crore on Tuesday, marking a massive 45 per cent jump from Monday’s earnings. With this, the film’s total after five days has crossed Rs 15 crore, and the numbers show no signs of slowing down.

What makes Tuesday’s performance even more impressive is that it came very close to Sunday’s figures and even surpassed Saturday’s collection. In fact, Tuesday turned out to be the strongest day of the film’s run so far — a rare feat for a horror flick that usually sees a drop after the weekend. Early Wednesday advance bookings are also looking strong, reportedly close to Tuesday’s levels, which suggests another Rs 3 crore day could be on the cards.

How Obsession Is Beating The Odds

Made on a shoestring budget of just USD 750,000, ‘Obsession’ is the underdog story of the year. Industry insiders point out that its Indian theatrical earnings alone are expected to cover the entire production budget — a major win for an independent Hollywood film in a market usually dominated by franchise spectacles.

The horror genre in India is traditionally ruled by The Conjuring universe films, but ‘Obsession’ has proven that original content can also strike a chord. The film’s weekday momentum is particularly noteworthy. Most movies see a decline after Sunday, but this one has managed to keep audiences hooked. If the trend holds, the first week is expected to close around Rs 20 crore, with a lifetime run of Rs 50 crore looking increasingly realistic, according to box office analysts.

Hollywood’s Golden Run In India Continues

2026 is turning out to be a spectacular year for Hollywood at the Indian box office, and ‘Obsession’ is just the latest success story. With major blockbusters like ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, ‘The Odyssey’, and ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ still to release, the momentum is expected to keep building.

For now, all eyes are on ‘Obsession’ to see if it can sustain this growth into its second week. If it does, it could become one of the most profitable Hollywood independent films ever in India. Ab dekhte hain kya hota hai!
