Small drop, steady collections
Arjun Sarja’s action-packed family entertainer ‘Blast’ is holding its own at the ticket windows. On day 9, the film saw only a minor dip, collecting Rs 1.91 crore net in India, according to industry estimates. That’s just a 5.9 percent drop from the previous day’s Rs 2.03 crore.
Playing across 1,611 shows, the film is clearly benefiting from positive word-of-mouth. The overall India net collection now stands at Rs 27.69 crore, while its India gross has reached Rs 31.82 crore.
Worldwide gross crosses Rs 39 crore
The film is not just doing well domestically—it’s making some solid moolah overseas too. ‘Blast’ has grossed Rs 7.30 crore from international markets, taking its total worldwide gross to a whopping Rs 39.12 crore.
The opening week played a major role in building this momentum. Day 6 saw Rs 3.45 crore coming in from 2,746 shows with a healthy 29.1 percent occupancy. Day 7 added Rs 2.75 crore, while day 8 brought Rs 2.03 crore. The first week alone clocked Rs 25.78 crore.
Night shows save the day
What’s interesting is the occupancy trend on day 9. The film clearly picks up steam as the day progresses. Morning shows had just 15.15 percent occupancy, afternoon shows climbed to 19.38 percent, and evening shows hit 17.62 percent. But it’s the night shows that are the real crowd-pullers—35.85 percent occupancy! That’s more than double the morning numbers.
For those who haven’t watched it yet, ‘Blast’ follows Rajaram, a karate practitioner living with his wife Neelaveni and daughter Nila—both of whom are skilled in karate too. Their peaceful middle-class life gets turned upside down when a corporate gang gets involved. ETimes gave the film 4 stars out of 5, calling out its attention to detail and unexpected action twists.
