First in the World to Book
Come June 8, Indian cinephiles will be among the first on the planet to lock in their seats for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. The film—shot entirely on brand-new IMAX film technology—marks a historic first: the first feature ever captured completely with IMAX cameras. And for the first time, fans in India can book their tickets simultaneously with the global audience.
Denzil Dias, Vice President and Managing Director of Warner Bros. Discovery India, called it a milestone. ‘For Nolan fans in India, this is a moment worth marking,’ he said, noting that the studio spent nearly two decades working toward a film shot entirely on IMAX. ‘On June 8, for the first time in India, Nolan fans will be amongst the first in the world to be able to book their favorite seats.’
An Epic Cast and Vision
Written and directed by the Academy Award-winning filmmaker, The Odyssey brings Homer’s ancient epic to life like never before. The story follows Odysseus, King of Ithaca, on his treacherous journey home after the fall of Troy. Leading the charge is Matt Damon as Odysseus, with Tom Holland as his son Telemachus and Anne Hathaway as Penelope. The starry ensemble also includes Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal.
Nolan, who produced alongside Emma Thomas under their Syncopy banner, has long been known for pushing cinematic boundaries. This time, he’s redefining what’s possible with IMAX—a format he’s championed for years. The film was shot across multiple locations worldwide using brand-new IMAX film technology, promising a visual and auditory spectacle that only a Nolan film can deliver.

The Odyssey opens in cinemas across India in all formats on July 17, 2026. Universal Pictures India is distributing the film, with Warner Bros. Discovery handling the release.
