Malayalam cinema has lost a beloved star. National Award-winning actor Salim Kumar passed away at the age of 56 after suffering a cardiac arrest in Kochi on June 6. The actor, known for his memorable roles in films like Satyameva Jayathe, had been hospitalised after complaining of health issues.
According to hospital sources, Salim was immediately placed on ventilator support upon arrival at a private hospital in Kochi. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, he could not be revived after suffering a cardiac arrest during his stay.
Medical bulletin reveals details
A medical bulletin issued by the hospital on Saturday night shed light on the actor’s final moments. ‘He was initiated on ventilator support, antibiotics, dialysis and other life-saving measures. During the hospital stay, he suffered a cardiac arrest and despite maximum possible resuscitative measures, could not be revived,’ the statement read.
