Rakesh Roshan clears the air on Krrish 4 delays

For months, Bollywood insiders have been buzzing about Krrish 4 hitting a roadblock. Rumours claimed that Hrithik Roshan and producer Aditya Chopra couldn’t agree on the budget, with whispers suggesting the actor demanded a whopping Rs 500 crore from Yash Raj Films. But filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has finally spoken up, and he’s not mincing words. In a candid chat, Roshan dismissed the speculation as pure ‘nonsense’. He revealed that the delay has nothing to do with budget fights — it’s simply because Hrithik has been tied up with his own production house commitments.

Roshan confirmed that the script is nearly locked and the team is aiming to start shooting by end of 2026. ‘There are no issues; all is smooth. It’s teamwork between Adi, Hrithik, and me,’ he said, putting an end to all the gossip. The filmmaker also emphasised that Krrish films have always taken time because they prioritise top-notch visual effects and action sequences. ‘Making a large-scale film like Krrish takes time, especially when the goal is to deliver high-quality VFX,’ he added.

What’s really happening with Krrish 4?

The Krrish franchise has been a labour of love since its inception. Koi… Mil Gaya (2003) introduced us to Rohit Mehra, and Krrish (2006) turned him into India’s first homegrown superhero. Krrish 3 (2013) raised the bar with Kangana Ranaut as the villain. Now, after a decade-long wait, fans are desperate for the fourth instalment. The project was first announced in 2018 with Karan Malhotra (Agneepath) as director and Siddharth Anand as producer, but both later exited. In 2025, Rakesh Roshan announced that Hrithik himself would direct the film.

Roshan explained that the delay is also due to Hrithik’s packed schedule. ‘All the previous Krrish films also took time to develop,’ he said. ‘The focus has always been on creating a film that appeals to a wide audience.’ He assured fans that the script is almost finalised and work will begin by the end of this year. However, he added a classic Bollywood-style caveat: ‘I will update you when everything is ready.’

Fans can breathe easy — but patience is key

Industry sources suggest that the budget rumours may have originated from the massive scale of the film. Krrish 4 is expected to feature cutting-edge VFX and international action sequences, which naturally require deep pockets. But Roshan’s clarification should calm the frenzy. The filmmaker’s words carry weight — he’s the man who created the franchise and knows the ins and outs of the production.

For now, Hrithik fans can stop worrying about a fallout with YRF. The actor is reportedly focused on his production house and other projects, but Krrish 4 remains a priority. With shooting expected to begin in late 2026, the wait might still be long, but at least it’s not a dead end. As Roshan put it, ‘It’s teamwork between Adi, Hrithik, and me.’ Yaar, that’s the kind of update we wanted — no drama, just pure Bollywood masala.
