Maanvi Gagroo on Patralekhaa getting body shamed

Maanvi Gagroo has had enough of the body-shaming culture targeting new mothers. The actress, who stars alongside Patralekhaa in the upcoming film Heer Sara, slammed trolls who targeted her co-star after Patralekhaa made her first public appearance post childbirth.

Patralekhaa stepped out for the first time after giving birth to a baby girl during promotions for Toaster. But instead of celebrating her return, some keyboard warriors decided to comment on her postpartum weight. Maanvi, however, wasn’t having any of it.

In an exclusive chat with Screen, Maanvi expressed her disappointment, saying, “It’s so ridiculous. It’s 2026, I can’t believe we’re still talking about it. I had a chat with Patra about it. I said, ‘Don’t even dignify it with a response. It doesn’t even need your attention. You’ve got so much going about it in your life. Don’t even give it any mental space.’”

Industry insiders weigh in

Maanvi’s strong stance has struck a chord with many in the industry. Sources close to the production reveal that several other co-stars and crew members have also reached out to Patralekhaa with messages of support. “The entire team is behind Patra. It’s heartbreaking to see anyone, especially a new mom, being trolled for something as natural as postpartum weight,” an insider shared.

This isn’t the first time Bollywood has seen such body-shaming. Actresses like Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, and Kareena Kapoor Khan have all faced similar scrutiny after childbirth. But the conversation is slowly shifting, with more celebrities speaking out against the toxic culture.

Fans rally behind Patralekhaa

Fans have also taken to social media to show their love for Patralekhaa. Many have pointed out that the actress looked radiant and happy during her first public outing, and that focusing on her weight is not only unnecessary but also harmful. “She just gave birth, yaar. Let her be. She looks beautiful,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Maanvi’s message is clear: it’s time to stop judging new mothers and start celebrating them. As she put it, “You’ve got so much going about it in your life. Don’t even give it any mental space.” Wise words, indeed.
