Vikram Bhatt dismisses rift rumours
Vikram Bhatt has finally addressed the speculation that has been doing the rounds—that his decades-long bond with mentor Mahesh Bhatt had soured after the Rajasthan Police booked him in a high-profile fraud case. Speaking to a news agency, the ‘Raaz’ and ‘1920’ director firmly put an end to the gossip, stating that Mahesh Bhatt’s silence during the entire episode was a deliberate and protective choice.
“There are no issues at all. It was only yesterday that he sent me a message to congratulate me,” Vikram revealed, adding that Mahesh consciously stayed away from making any public statement to avoid escalating the matter. “I believe that he didn’t give a statement and remained silent, as he did not want to exaggerate or provoke the matter. If he had said something, people would get angrier, and it would cause me more pain.”
The fraud case that shook things up
Earlier this month, Vikram Bhatt and his wife, Shwetambari Bhatt, were booked by the Rajasthan Police after an FIR was lodged in Udaipur in November 2025. The case, registered at the Bhupalpura police station, is linked to an alleged large-scale fund misappropriation connected to a film project. Soon after the news broke, social media was abuzz with questions about why Mahesh Bhatt—who has been a pillar of support for Vikram throughout his career—hadn’t spoken up.
However, Vikram’s latest statement makes it clear that there was no falling out, only a calculated silence. The Supreme Court has since granted regular bail to both Vikram and Shwetambari, giving the filmmaker some breathing room as he navigates the legal proceedings.
A bond that transcends circumstances
Vikram Bhatt didn’t stop at clearing the air—he went on to underline the depth of his bond with Mahesh Bhatt, comparing it to a father-son relationship. “Even if I am a thief, he would call me his son,” Vikram said, adding that for Mahesh Bhatt, there was a reason behind his silence and no distance. “He understood that the time was not right for being aggressive.”
Vikram, who directed blockbuster horror franchises like ‘Raaz’, ‘1920’, and ‘Haunted – 3D’, has shared a long and close professional and personal association with Mahesh Bhatt. This latest statement seems to put all speculation about a rift to rest—at least for now. Fans of the two filmmakers can breathe easy knowing that the mentor-mentee bond remains as strong as ever, even in the face of controversy.
