Fresh whispers are doing the rounds about Rajinikanth’s much-awaited Jailer 2, and this time it’s Hrithik Roshan’s name popping up. According to industry insiders, the War star has reportedly come on board for a pivotal cameo that was originally linked to Shah Rukh Khan.
A source close to the production told a leading daily, ‘Hrithik is definitely doing a strong cameo in Jailer 2. He plays the role of Rajini sir’s friend who comes into the storyline to help in a time of crisis. Hrithik will be shooting his part this month.’ If this turns out to be true, it will mark Hrithik’s on-screen reunion with the Superstar after nearly four decades – the two were last seen together in the 1986 film Bhagwan Dada, where Hrithik appeared as a child artist.
Why Shah Rukh Khan Stepped Away
Earlier this year, reports suggested that Shah Rukh Khan was all set to make a five-day special appearance in the sequel. The actor was reportedly keen on the role but later decided to focus on his upcoming project King, which holds special significance as it marks the big-screen debut of his daughter Suhana Khan. While the makers haven’t officially confirmed either casting, the rumoured switch has already set social media abuzz.
Fans are now eagerly waiting to see if Hrithik Roshan will indeed share screen space with Rajinikanth in a film that’s already one of the most anticipated sequels in Indian cinema. Given the buzz, the reported cameo could add another layer of excitement to the project.

Meanwhile, Hrithik recently set the grapevine buzzing with a cryptic Instagram post. Sharing a selfie, he wrote, ‘Just got asked what’s the kind of role I’m looking for. And I surprised myself when it came to me. Remember Zaffar from Luck By Chance? That’s the one. I’d jump on something like that. But directors only wanna see me play the good guy. Sad.’
