Shanaya on the Guru vs Jass experience

Actress and digital creator Shanaya Makani is riding high on the success of her latest Punjabi music video Raho Bachke, where she’s been winning hearts with her expressive acting and stylish moves. But fans are even more curious about one thing – what’s it really like to work with two of the biggest names in the business back-to-back?

In a chat with cinecrazy, Shanaya opened up about the key differences she noticed while working with Guru Randhawa compared to Jass Manak on set. And let’s just say, both experiences were pretty special in their own way.

“I truly loved working with both Guru and Jass. They are both amazing artists and wonderful people to collaborate with,” Shanaya shared. “From the moment you work with them, they make you feel comfortable and warm which makes the whole experience so enjoyable.”

The actress particularly highlighted how both musicians give their collaborators space to shine. “One thing I really admire about both of them is how they give artists the space to shine and showcase their talent. That’s something I’m very grateful for, and it makes working with them even more special.”

Planned vs spontaneous – the creative contrast

When it comes to the actual creative process, Shanaya revealed a fascinating contrast between the two Punjabi superstars. “Working with Jass was a great experience because everything was well planned, and we had a clear vision of what we wanted to create. It allowed us to prepare well and bring that vision to life.”

On the flip side, working with Guru Randhawa was a whole different vibe. “Working with Guru was equally exciting and memorable. The process had a very energetic and spontaneous feel to it, which made it a lot of fun. It pushed us to be creative, stay in the moment, and bring our best energy.”

But at the end of the day, Shanaya emphasised that both artists create a supportive environment. “What I appreciate most is that both Guru and Jass create an environment where artists feel supported, confident, and inspired. I learned a lot from both experiences, and I’m genuinely grateful.”

Juggling multiple hats without losing it

Shanaya isn’t just an actress – she’s also an entrepreneur and influencer, which means managing a whole lot of plates spinning at once. When asked how she handles the pressure, she got real about the struggle.

“About managing expectations, I’ve always said this – at no point does it get easier because I’m also personally the kind of person who puts so much pressure on myself,” she admitted. “And then that, on top of the five different jobs I’m trying to juggle, does definitely get overwhelming.”

But here’s the thing – that overwhelming feeling doesn’t make her want to quit. “Honestly, at no point does it get overwhelming in a way where I want to stop. It just motivates me to go further and further as far as I can with it.”

Her secret? Prioritising. “If you’re trying to focus on one particular thing, the other thing takes a backseat for some time. Like, this week I’m focusing a lot on dance so my content might not be as aggressively put out as other weeks.”

“It took me some time to adjust to that way of life, and it’s still sometimes overwhelms me a little bit. But nothing that I’m not grateful for. This is exactly what I wished for, and I couldn’t be happier than I am here today.”
