Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph’s Drishyam 3 continues to march ahead at the ticket windows, crossing the Rs 231 crore mark globally by its 16th day. Despite a slight dip in daily collections, the film is proving to be a solid success, especially with night shows pulling in the crowds.
Film Crosses Rs 231 Crore, Day 16 Sees 14% Drop
According to early estimates, Drishyam 3 collected Rs 80 lakhs net in India on Day 16, marking a 14% decline from the previous day’s Rs 93 lakhs. The film played across 851 shows, with the Malayalam version contributing the bulk—Rs 79 lakhs from 841 shows at 19% occupancy. The Tamil version added just Rs 1 lakh from 10 shows, but recorded a higher occupancy of 27%.
The India net total now stands at Rs 103.43 crore, while the India gross has reached Rs 120.01 crore. Overseas, the film earned Rs 10 lakhs on Day 16, pushing the total overseas gross to Rs 111.25 crore. The worldwide gross currently sits at an impressive Rs 231.26 crore. The film had a strong first week, closing at Rs 81.95 crore, with Day 7 and Day 8 both bringing in Rs 6.65 crore each.
Night Shows Keep The Momentum Going
Occupancy figures reveal a clear trend: audiences prefer late shows. On Day 16, the Malayalam version logged an overall occupancy of 15.31%, but night shows soared to 27.33%. Evening shows saw 16.33%, while morning and afternoon shows lagged at 6% and 9.56% respectively. This pattern suggests that the film is still generating buzz among evening and night audiences, especially in Kerala.
Region-wise, Kerala contributed Rs 85 lakhs on Day 16, followed by Karnataka with Rs 4 lakhs, Tamil Nadu with Rs 2 lakhs, and Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together adding Rs 1 lakh. The rest of India pitched in another Rs 1 lakh. The film’s hold in the Kerala market remains remarkable, given that it’s now in its third week.
Mixed Reviews But Box Office Success Continues
While Drishyam 3 has received mixed reactions from critics and audiences, the numbers speak for themselves. The film has already crossed the Rs 230 crore club worldwide, and with a strong hold in the Malayalam belt, it’s likely to add more to its kitty in the coming days. The story once again follows Georgekutty as he faces his toughest challenge yet, and despite divided opinions, the franchise’s loyal fanbase has turned up in big numbers.
With no major competition in the Malayalam market and positive word-of-mouth for the emotional core, Drishyam 3 looks set for a steady run. Whether it can cross the Rs 300 crore milestone remains to be seen, but for now, Mohanlal’s thriller is already a winner at the box office.
