Rajamouli Brings RRR to the World’s Largest Single Screen
Four years after its explosive release, SS Rajamouli’s Oscar-winning magnum opus ‘RRR’ is far from done making waves. The film is set to light up Le Grand Rex in Paris on June 30, 2026, and guess who’s personally showing up for the event? The director himself.
The film’s official social media accounts dropped the news on May 29, calling it a “return to the big screen once again” at the “world’s largest single screen.” For a movie that already bagged an Academy Award, this Paris showcase proves just how strong ‘RRR’s grip remains on the global stage. Industry sources indicate this isn’t just another rerun—it’s a full-fledged cultural event.
What Makes Le Grand Rex So Special?
If you haven’t heard of Le Grand Rex, you’re in for a treat. Opened way back in 1932, this Art Deco movie palace is one of Europe’s most beloved cinemas. Its Grand Large screen spans about 300 square meters—one of the biggest outside IMAX—and the venue can seat over 2,000 people. It’s famous for hosting big premieres and film festivals, but an Indian film taking over the main auditorium with its director in the house? That doesn’t happen often.
According to the announcement, the iconic Grand Auditorium will host the film, and fans will get to see Rajamouli in person for a conversation before the movie starts. The announcement video spliced together crowd-favorite scenes and behind-the-scenes clips, ending with the text: “RRR returns to big screen once again. SS Rajamouli is coming to the special screening of RRR at the world’s largest single screen.” The caption was equally hyped: “Paris, here we come. Join us on 30 June. Relive RRR with the director himself. The one and only S.S. Rajamouli is arriving at the world’s biggest theatre, Le Grand Rex!”
RRR’s Global Love Story Continues
Talk about a film that keeps on giving. Since 2022, ‘RRR’ has filled theaters from Los Angeles—where fans danced along to ‘Naatu Naatu’ mid-movie—to sold-out shows in Japan and Europe. Paris is just the latest stop in this epic journey. Set in 1920s British-ruled India, the film reimagines the friendship between freedom fighters Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR) and Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan), with a stellar cast including Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Ray Stevenson, and Alison Doody.
The movie raked in over Rs 1,200 crore worldwide, and ‘Naatu Naatu’ made history as the first Indian production to win the Best Original Song Oscar at the 95th Academy Awards. It also snagged a Golden Globe and several critics’ awards for the same track. This Paris screening isn’t just another overseas rerun—it puts ‘RRR’ front and center as a cultural phenomenon, proving that some films never lose their magic on the big screen.
