Hina Khan’s sarcastic appeal to PM Modi
Actress Hina Khan has taken a sharp dig at Shilpa Shinde following the latter’s recent admission of filing a false sexual harassment complaint. In a series of Instagram Stories, Hina made a unique appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Law Minister, sarcastically urging them to release all criminals who have confessed to their crimes. Her point? Admitting to a crime doesn’t erase the offence or exempt someone from legal consequences.
Hina wrote, “Honourable prime minister of India, honourable president of India and the law minister of India Kindly release all the criminals who have confessed their crimes after committing them Because they have Courage, because they are fighters, because they stand with truth.” She stressed that such an action would set a dangerous precedent, especially for genuine victims of sexual harassment.
Calling out women who support Shilpa
Hina didn’t hold back in calling out a section of women who are lauding Shilpa for her confession. She wrote, “I am in Disbelief Women are supporting such Absurd and Lowly Action Just because a Woman they support has admitted it. Dude this is a crime, what if the victim would hv committed suicide out of embarrassment or his marriage would have fallen apart?”
She further pointed out that feminism is about equality, and to be equal, women must speak out against their own if it benefits the community. “I can only be a good woman if I am a good human being,” she added, clarifying that her comments are not about personal rivalry but about what’s right. She also dismissed trolls who think this is about their ‘Bigg Boss 11’ history, saying, “Get Over BB It’s been 9 years.”
Impact on the Me Too movement
Hina expressed concern that Shilpa’s admission dilutes the gravity of movements like ‘Me Too’. She wrote, “What she did dilutes away the gravity of movements like ‘Me Too’ and her current unbothered, unfiltered, unapologetic admission of her guilt, makes one casually say ‘SHE TOO’.” Hina argued that women like Shilpa cripple the voice of genuine victims and make a mockery of law and order.
She added, “This is why women are blamed for harming women for selfish reasons. Women like them cripple the voice of genuine victims.. some women who actually face sexual harassment aren’t even able to verbalise it.” Hina concluded by saying the joke is on society if such actions are normalised. Both actresses were part of Bigg Boss 11 in 2017, where Shilpa won and Hina was the first runner-up.
