Peddi Opens Strong Despite Day 2 Drop
Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor’s sports drama Peddi might have seen a dip on its second day, but the film is still making big noise at the box office. After a massive opening, the movie slowed down a bit on Friday, but still managed to cross the Rs 150 crore mark worldwide in just two days. Trade estimates reveal that the film collected around Rs 26.90 crore net in India on Day 2, which is a drop of nearly 47.3 percent from its Day 1 collection of Rs 51 crore net. Despite this, the total domestic net collection now stands at Rs 96.40 crore, with the India gross hitting Rs 114.49 crore.
The film’s overseas performance is equally impressive. On Day 2, Peddi earned roughly Rs 8 crore gross from international markets, bringing the total overseas gross to Rs 36 crore. Combining domestic and overseas numbers, the worldwide gross has reached Rs 150.49 crore. Industry insiders say this strong start is a testament to the massive anticipation around the film and Ram Charan’s pull with audiences across the globe.
Telugu Market Leads the Charge
As expected, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana remain the biggest contributors to Peddi‘s box office success. Together, the two states generated around Rs 25 crore gross on Day 2 alone. Karnataka added approximately Rs 3.23 crore, while Tamil Nadu contributed Rs 70 lakh. Kerala brought in Rs 7 lakh, and the rest of India added nearly Rs 3 crore gross. The numbers clearly show that the Telugu market is the backbone of the film’s theatrical run.
The Telugu version of the film registered an overall occupancy of 48.81 percent on Day 2. Morning shows started at 29.85 percent, but the audience grew steadily through the day. Afternoon shows saw 48.15 percent occupancy, evening shows climbed to 57.08 percent, and night shows peaked at 60.15 percent. The Kannada version recorded 17.04 percent occupancy, while the Tamil version managed 19.80 percent. Although dubbed versions lagged behind, the Telugu version’s strong performance kept the collections healthy across most circuits.
Peddi Outshines Game Changer
Interestingly, Peddi has already surpassed Ram Charan’s previous release Game Changer by a significant margin at the same stage. On Day 2, Game Changer had earned Rs 21.60 crore net and had reached Rs 72.60 crore India net with a worldwide gross of Rs 108.79 crore. In comparison, Peddi has collected Rs 96.40 crore India net and Rs 150.49 crore worldwide gross in just two days. The gap highlights the stronger opening response for Peddi and its ability to leave its predecessor behind early on.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi is set in rural Andhra Pradesh during the 1980s. The sports drama follows a spirited villager who uses sports to unite his community and defend its pride against powerful rivals. Alongside Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, the film also stars Shiva Rajkumar, Divyendu, Jagapathi Babu, Boman Irani, and Upendra Limaye in key roles. With the weekend now underway, all eyes are on whether the film can sustain its momentum and march toward the Rs 200 crore worldwide milestone.
