Not retiring anytime soon

The actor addressed the ongoing rumours about stepping away from the industry and shared his honest thoughts. According to Akshay, the idea of retiring does cross his mind, but only very briefly. He revealed that when he wakes up around 4 am, he sometimes thinks about taking a break. However, that thought lasts just a few seconds before reality kicks in. He quickly remembers that he has a film shoot to attend and that hundreds of people are waiting for him on set.
This routine, he says, has been repeating itself for the last 36 years. Every time retirement pops into his head, work reminds him why he loves what he does.
What would retirement even look like?
Adding his trademark humour to the conversation, Akshay joked about what his life would be like if he actually retired. He said that staying at home would probably land him several new jobs — from becoming an electrician to walking dogs and taking care of gardening. He laughed that he would end up handling all the household chores. For him, going to work seems like a much better option, which is why he believes retirement is not the right choice right now.
The actor also spoke about spending more time with family. While many people assume he would enjoy a break at home, Akshay revealed that he has already tried taking time off in the past. Surprisingly, it didn’t last very long. He shared that after just one day, his family started asking him when he would return to work. That experience convinced him that staying active and busy suits him best.

The actor also shared his personal philosophy on retirement itself. He believes people should continue working as long as they can and shouldn’t worry too much about stepping away. According to Akshay, staying active and doing meaningful work can help people lead a happier and longer life.
