No romance brewing on set, says co-star
Bollywood has long been obsessed with the love story of Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor, but their Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani co-star Vishwanath Chatterjee is now setting the record straight. In a recent chat with Siddharth Kannan, the actor dismissed any talk of a budding romance between the two during the film’s shoot.
“Set pe kuch nahi ho raha tha sir,” Vishwanath said, adding that director Rajkumar Santoshi kept such a disciplined atmosphere that no one dared to step out of line. “Rajkumar Santoshi ji bethe hain vahan, unke samne kuch ho sakta hai? Saare vahan par most obedient bacche the.”
According to Vishwanath, Santoshi’s commanding presence ensured the cast stayed completely focused on their characters and the film. “Voh itna aapne kahani aur character main logon ko ghusa ke rakhte the aur itna pamper karke, aisa humne kuch nahi dekha,” he added.
Katrina’s dedication left everyone impressed
While Vishwanath didn’t witness any romance, he had nothing but praise for Katrina’s professionalism. He recalled a particularly challenging sequence where the cast had to climb a ladder from a boat to reach a bridge. “Katrina ji ekdum jldi chadh gayi,” he said, noting that even Ranbir was amazed by her physical fitness.
The actor also revealed that Katrina worked hard on her dialogue delivery. “Unhone aapni speech pe bhi bahut mehanat kari. Dedication ke mamle main Katrina ji top number pe thi puri team main,” Vishwanath shared. “Hum log sab bahut masti kiye.”
Where are Katrina and Ranbir now?
Katrina and Ranbir’s relationship was one of Bollywood’s most talked-about romances. They reportedly grew close during the 2009 film, though both maintained they were just friends. Over the years, they were spotted together at events, vacations, and family gatherings, and even worked together in Raajneeti and Jagga Jasoos.
By 2014-2015, reports suggested they had moved in together, sparking wedding rumours. But after nearly six years of dating, the couple reportedly split in 2016. Neither ever publicly discussed the reasons. Today, Ranbir is married to Alia Bhatt, and they have a daughter, Raha. Katrina tied the knot with Vicky Kaushal in 2021, and the couple welcomed their son, Vihaan, in November 2025.
