The Paris shoot that almost didn’t happen
Nearly three decades after the release of Hero No.1, producer Vashu Bhagnani has taken a trip down memory lane, revisiting the Paris location where the film’s beloved song ‘Mohabbat Ki Nahin Jaati’ was shot. The track, featuring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor, remains a fan favourite from the 1997 comedy entertainer.
Bhagnani recently shared a video on Instagram from the exact spot where the song was filmed. The post was jointly shared by the producer, his production house Pooja Entertainment, and his children, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshika Deshmukh. Along with the video, the production house wrote, “Did you know? This iconic Hero No. 1 song was shot right here in Paris! And it comes with a sweet memory that @vashubhagnani still cherishes.”
In the video, Bhagnani recalled the logistical nightmare behind the sequence. “There are so many beautiful memories attached to this place,” he said while standing at the location. He then revealed, “We’d shot a song with Govinda and Karisma Kapoor for Hero No.1. Initially, we had not received permission to shoot this song. The police mentioned the responsibilities. We had to get permission to shoot this song, and we’d hired a boat. And we did a fantastic shoot.”
A nostalgic trip for fans of 90s Bollywood
The soundtrack, composed by Anand-Milind, was a major factor in the film’s popularity. Songs like ‘Sona Kitna Sona Hai’, ‘Saaton Janam Tujhko Paate’, and ‘Mohabbat Ki Nahin Jaati’ became chartbusters. The chemistry between Govinda and Karisma Kapoor, combined with David Dhawan’s trademark humour, cemented the film as a defining commercial entertainer of the 1990s.
Over the years, Hero No.1 has continued to find new audiences through television reruns and digital platforms. The film is often cited as one of the most iconic collaborations between Govinda, Karisma Kapoor, and David Dhawan. Bhagnani’s recent recollection is a nostalgic treat for fans who continue to celebrate the film’s enduring legacy.
Katy Perry’s wisdom on self-sabotage
In a completely different corner of the entertainment world, global pop star Katy Perry has shared a powerful quote about self-bullying and success. The singer, who has been in the industry for years, spoke from experience during a 2013 interview with W Magazine while promoting her fourth album, Prism.
Perry explained the meaning behind her hit song ‘Roar’, saying, “People talk about bullying, but you can be your own bully in some ways. You can be the person who is standing in the way of your success.” She pointed out that while we’re often taught to stand up to external bullies, we rarely consider the internal critic that can sabotage our own progress.
The 5-time AMA award winner added, “I was having a great professional streak, but personally, I was really immature, so I had to balance those things out.” Perry’s journey from singing in church at age 9 to selling 151 million records worldwide is proof that overcoming self-doubt is possible. Her breakthrough came in 2008 with ‘I Kissed a Girl’, and she recently performed at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony.
