Day 9 collections show a jump

Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, and Mrunal Thakur’s ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ is proving to be a resilient player at the ticket windows. Despite receiving mixed reactions from both audiences and critics, David Dhawan’s comedy drama has managed to cross the Rs 60 crore mark globally on its ninth day of release.

According to industry tracking reports, the film registered a 21.6% jump in earnings on day 9 compared to the previous day. It collected a net total of Rs 2.25 crore across 2,939 shows in India on that day. The total India net collection now stands at Rs 40.95 crore, while the India gross is estimated at Rs 48.63 crore. On the overseas front, the film added Rs 75 lakh on day 9, taking its total overseas gross to Rs 13.10 crore and pushing the worldwide gross to Rs 61.73 crore.

Week 2 brings fresh competition

As the film enters its second week, it is facing new challenges from a slew of releases. Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhata’, Imtiaz Ali’s partition drama ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’, and Manoj Bajpayee’s ‘Governor: The Silent Saviour’ have all hit the screens, vying for audience attention. In its opening week, the film had already battled Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Bandar’, Buchi Babu Sana’s ‘Peddi’, and the Hollywood release ‘He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’.

Despite the crowded marketplace, ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ has managed to hold its ground. The day-wise India net collection shows a steady performance: day 1 at Rs 7.50 crore, day 2 at Rs 7.50 crore, day 3 at Rs 9 crore, day 4 at Rs 3.50 crore, day 5 at Rs 3.85 crore, day 6 at Rs 2.90 crore, day 7 at Rs 2.60 crore, day 8 at Rs 1.85 crore, and day 9 at Rs 2.25 crore.

What’s the film about?

Directed by David Dhawan, the film stars Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles. It is supported by an ensemble cast including Rakesh Bedi, Maniesh Paul, Jimmy Shergill, Mouni Roy, Chunky Pandey, Manoj Pahwa, and Kubbra Sait. The comedy drama was released in cinemas on June 5, 2026.

With the film inching towards the Rs 50 crore mark in India alone, trade analysts are keeping a close watch on its performance in the coming days. Will it manage to sustain the momentum? Only time will tell, but for now, Varun Dhawan’s fans have reason to celebrate.
